Position Description


Primary Purpose and Essential Functions
The School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of the Pacific invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering starting in August 2025.
The successful candidate will be committed to excellence in teaching at a predominantly undergraduate institution. Teaching responsibilities will include a variety of undergraduate courses supporting programs in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Engineering Physics, as well as the opportunity to develop new graduate courses in the candidate's area of expertise. Other duties include mentoring senior capstone research projects, participation in departmental and university governance, and ongoing professional development. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Earned Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Applicants with expertise in any area of computer engineering or electrical engineering will be considered.
  • Applicants with a background in microcontrollers, embedded systems, VLSI design, system on a chip, or edge devices are specifically encouraged to apply.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Physical Requirements

Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wrist motion while using a computer keyboard and phone. Occasional standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, and reaching. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

Work is performed during standard hours, but additional hours may be required to meet business needs or deadlines.
Hiring Range $90,000- $97,000. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
