Position Summary

Staff Nurse I is accountable for the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and Relationship-Based Care model as the framework. The Staff Nurse I provides direct patient care and takes initiative to improve patient outcomes by integrating Shared Leadership, Evidence Based Practice, Relationship Based Care and standards of nursing excellence into clinical practice. Through therapeutic relationships with patients, families, self and colleagues, the Staff Nurse I functions as an interdisciplinary team member who provides quality patient care and fulfills unit and organizational goals. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates in-depth clinical knowledge, skills and expertise.
  • Provides direct patient care.
  • Performs ongoing assessment of assigned patients' and their significant others' learning needs and identifies changes in patients' condition.
  • Assimilates information from multiple sources and implements appropriate action plan to provide safe, quality care.
  • Assures safety and security of patients, significant others and staff.
  • Ensures the appropriate implementation of the patient's plans of care and facilitates communication among multidisciplinary team members regarding patient status.
  • Implements appropriate actions to respond to needs of patients and patients' significant others.
  • Monitors and documents the patient's condition during and post invasive CV procedures.
  • Assures cost effective approach to patient care in terms of equipment, supplies and other resources.
  • In all areas of practice follows established policies, procedures and standards of care.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities and identifies quality issues.
  • Recognizes and responds to age appropriate needs and behaviors of all patients and utilizes knowledge in planning and interventions.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications

    1. Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
    2. Current AHA BLS/CPR and other required unit specific certifications
    3. 2 years TEE/Stress Test experience required
    4. ACLS Required
    5. Effective communication skills (oral and written) that facilitate therapeutic relationships between patients, family, and health care providers
    6. Intermediate computer skills with the ability to become proficient in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with on-the-job training
    7. Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills and work history required.
