Purpose: Cleveland School of the Arts (CSA) is a public, auditioned arts school in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) serving students in grades 9-12. CSA music students enrolled in band, orchestra, and choir benefit from additional one-on-one and small group instruction.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with assigned CSA students on ensemble repertoire and musical techniques one weekday morning per week for the full semester
  • Attend ongoing professional development opportunities at CSA or CIM
  • Communicate directly with CSA teachers to coordinate teaching schedules and report student progress
  • Participate in assessment and evaluation activities, which may include written surveys, focus groups, and observations

Rate of Pay: $20.00/hr

Length of Employment: 8/26/24 to 5/8/25, or the date a student has earned their full WS award, or is no longer enrolled full time, whichever comes first.

Qualifications:

  • Prior teaching experience helpful
  • Approval from primary teacher
  • Ability to travel to CSA (about 1 mile from CIM)
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Completion of September 2024 training

Teaching experience (private studio & sectionals with high-school age students)
Evaluation procedures and schedules: September: training prior to final hire; December: written self-evaluation; April/May: written self-evaluation; Periodic evaluations throughout the year, subject to scheduling restrictions.
