Job Summary

Provide administrative support to faculty, students, and other staff members within the Math and Computer Science Department. This may include answering phone calls, responding to emails, and maintaining departmental records.

Support students with various academic and administrative needs. This includes directing students to appropriate resources for academic assistance.

Effectively and respectfully communicate with faculty, staff, students, and other departments/services on campus. This includes verbal communication when interacting with individuals face-to-face or over the phone, as well as written communication when responding to emails or composing official correspondence.

Provide quality customer service when interacting with students, faculty, and visitors. Staff members should strive to be friendly, approachable, and helpful in addressing inquiries and providing assistance.

Additional Information

In order to qualify for a Federal Work-Study (FWS) job, a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) must be on file for the current award year and have eligible financial needs based on the college requirements. Please contact the Office of Financial Aid for more information prior to applying to a Federal Work-Study job.
  • FWS is a need-based, federally funded program.
  • FWS requires the completion of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and confirmation of federal work-study eligibility as determined by the financial aid office.
  • FWS does not directly pay for tuition, and funds are only available to eligible students attending a minimum of six (6) degree applicable hours in a federal student aid eligible program.
  • The FWS award amount is based on your FAFSA results and college funding availability, which will determine the number of hours available to work while supporting the students academic goals.

Minimum Qualifications

Attention to Detail
Staff members are expected to pay attention to detail to ensure accuracy in tasks such as data entry, scheduling, and record-keeping. Mistakes in these areas can have significant consequences for students and faculty, so staff members should take care to avoid errors.

Adaptability
The needs of the Math and Computer Science Department front office can vary from day to day, so staff members are expected to be adaptable and handle unexpected situations as they arise. This may require the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and quickly switch between different responsibilities as needed.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in Customer Service
  • Experience with copy machines and filing systems
  • Experience with computers and the ability to look up information in a timely manner
  • Experience using Google Suite to included Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Gmail, and Forms
  • Experience with answering inquiries in a respectful and courteous manner
