Job Description
The RN - Specialty Coordinator serves as a liaison between Surgical Services and Patient Access/Centralized Scheduling. The position collaborates with administration to establish major objectives and standards within the surgery scheduling arena, including any other duties as assigned. The position manages individualized, goal directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures. The position is responsible for the delivery of quality care in the OR and other areas of Surgical Services, while meeting standards as set forth by the State, the Regulatory Agency, and facility policies and procedures. The position maintains knowledge and skills required to perform as a professional Registered Nurse as well as those specific to Surgical Services and the OR. The RN - Specialty Coordinator promotes teamwork with all surgical team members and other departments. Responsibilities * Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the RN - Specialty Coordinator in the operating room as defined in the scope of service, to ensure that the unique nature of the client is addressed. * Assesses Preference Cards and collaborates with physicians and specialty coordinators for doctor preference card accuracy. * Assesses, communicates, and collaborates with leadership team to develop and ensure consistency within nursing services in relation to work design, tools, and clinical practice for surgery scheduling. * Assumes responsibility for daily personnel assignment/monitoring patient care and overall unit activities, in accordance with established standards. * Directs other licensed and non-licensed personnel in the provision of care to patients as assigned. * Performs essential functions of a RN circulator. * Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job related hazards. * Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure. Pursues professional growth and development. * Assist in other duties as assigned to support the operational needs of the department and organization. * May be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.
