A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Kiran Nakka in the department of Physiology and Cell Biology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Motivated candidates interested in pursuing Inflammation-associated molecular regulation of muscle regeneration are encouraged to apply. Candidates with background in biochemistry, molecular and cell biology are preferred. Our lab investigates the gene regulatory networks in muscle stem cells using cutting-edge high-throughput studies, single-cell technologies and proteomics. The candidate will be responsible for conducting and evaluating the experiments, collect and analyze the data, develops and trouble shoots new experimental techniques and protocols, stay updated with current scientific literature and research in the field, and contributes to manuscript preparation. Key Responsibilities: Design, conduct, process, analyze and interpret data from different cellular and molecular experimental platforms. Conducting studies in transgenic mouse models, managing mouse colony and their genotyping records. Develops and troubleshoots new experimental techniques and protocols which benefit the general research laboratory; prepares research results for publication in reports and manuscripts; prepares for seminars and presents data in group meetings, particularly the results of research undertaken; attends research reviews and seminars. Participates in preparation of grant applications for extramural funding; participates in preparation of manuscripts for publication; supports grant writing; other duties as assigned. Minimum Education and Skills/Experience Required/Desired Doctoral degree in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or any other relevant biological sciences field; recent graduates within the last one to two years preferred; experience in molecular biology techniques, cell signaling pathways and prior training in biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology is strongly preferred; scientific publication record desired; requires successful completion of a background check; selected candidate may be required to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen. Interested applicants should provide the application package with a cover letter, curriculum vitae including publications and the names and contact information of references. |
