Job Summary:



Two available postdoctoral positions aimed at investigating the molecular basis of mitochondrial homeostasis are open within Dr. Blake Hill's research laboratory at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO. Our research focuses on utilizing structure- and genetics-guided mutational analyses to elucidate the regulatory mechanisms governing mitochondrial quality control and their implications in human disease.

Key Responsibilities:

Position #1:

Requires a skilled structural biologist or mass spectroscopist with expertise in protein interactions.

The primary responsibility will be to define the composition and structures of mitochondrial protein complexes. In this role, the candidate will play a crucial role in understanding the intricate molecular organization of these complexes.

Position #2:

Requires a talented cellular biologist with specialization in yeast/mammalian cell culture, confocal and super-resolution microscopy.

The successful candidate will investigate the spatial organization of these mitochondrial complexes in both healthy and diseased states, thereby shedding light on their functional significance.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.



  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Cell Biology, or a relevant field leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals is required.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Strong background in experimental design, sample preparation, data collection, processing, and quantitative analysis using various techniques and software tools.
  • Demonstrated experience in either protein structure determination, proximity ligation mass spectrometry, or quantitative confocal or super-resolution microscopic methods.
  • Proficiency in R or Python to analyze data and experience with statistical, machine learning, and data science approaches preferred
  • Proven track record in presenting research findings at conferences and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Prior experience working in teams on collaborative projects is desirable.
  • Ability and desire to seek external research funding is preferred.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • A highly motivated self-starter who is able to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of experimental design and basic science techniques including safety procedures.
  • Ability to generate, process, and analyze large datasets using R or other appropriate software.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to problem-solve, multi-task, and work independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with lab members, faculty colleagues, and departmental staff and administration.
  • Excellent attention to detail.

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$56,484 - $70,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
