About the Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiologist Position

The Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin and Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas (DCMCCT) are seeking experienced pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists to join the Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease.

Candidates will possess experience in caring for children with complex congenital and acquired heart disease and adults with congenital heart disease. Primary responsibilities will include oversight and provision of direct care to patients prior to, during, and after cardiac surgery. Other responsibilities include developing and implementing care protocols, overseeing the QI registries pertinent to Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia and to oversee education, quality assurance and ongoing performance improvement initiatives. Candidates will also participate in coordinated outreach efforts for the Center.

A successful candidate will have an appointment within the Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care at Dell Medical School, and regular participation in educational activities with medical students and residents will be expected. Opportunities for collaboration with medical and adjunct specialties will be encouraged to allow for the pursuit of innovative program development and clinical research initiatives.

Candidates will be board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in Anesthesia and Pediatric Anesthesia with additional formal training in Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia.

Qualifications

Required:



  • Medical degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Meets applicable credentialing and privileging standards for his/her specialty. Currently Board certified.
  • Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Texas (or the ability to obtain prior to appointment).
  • Demonstrated clinical teaching, evaluation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to influence/motivate others at all professional and administrative levels.
  • Must be an innovative self-starter with a commitment to excellence.
  • Must possess tenacity, self-motivation and initiative necessary to perform as part of a team for both established and new programs; demonstrates behaviors of a team player.
  • Eligible for appointment as an assistant professor or higher in the Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care.
