The Opportunity

Inter-Con is seeking a Counsel - Litigation to join its growing Legal Department. This is an opportunity to move beyond the traditional law-firm model and handle meaningful employment litigation directly on behalf of Inter-Con. For attorneys coming from private practice, the role offers a more sustainable in-house work model centered on business outcomes rather than billable-hour targets-without giving up meaningful case ownership or hands-on litigation experience. Counsel will also gain direct exposure to business leaders and build practical in-house judgment at a company that is continuing to grow internationally, although the position itself will not oversee global legal matters.

The ideal candidate brings strong employment litigation experience, excellent research and writing skills, sound judgment, and a practical, solutions-oriented approach. Experience with traditional labor matters is preferred but not required; the Legal team is open to developing this capability in an otherwise strong employment attorney.

Primary Responsibilities

Working closely with senior attorneys and business partners, Counsel will support and increasingly take ownership of pre-litigation, administrative, and litigation matters, including:

• Manage and support employment litigation matters, administrative claims, internal investigations, regulatory inquiries, and related disputes.
• Help develop litigation strategies aligned with the company's business priorities and risk-management objectives.
• Draft motions, pleadings, correspondence, and discovery; assist with document collection, ESI, witness interviews, and deposition preparation.
• Take and defend depositions and participate in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials as experience and case needs permit.
• Evaluate claims and contribute to settlement strategy, negotiations, and resolution efforts.
• Partner directly with internal stakeholders to provide practical guidance on employment litigation risk, dispute resolution, and compliance matters.
• Coordinate with outside counsel on case strategy, discovery, deadlines, budgets, and results while helping retain meaningful litigation work in-house.
• Support traditional labor matters, including grievance review and strategy, with guidance from experienced members of the Legal team.
• Monitor legal developments affecting the organization and recommend policy or process improvements that reduce risk.
• Assist with contract review, requests for proposals, compliance initiatives, and other Legal Department projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the California Bar.
• Three to five years of relevant litigation experience, with a strong foundation in employment law.
• Hands-on experience with discovery, motion practice, case management, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, or trials.
• Traditional labor experience is preferred but not required.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Practical business judgment and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal clients, senior attorneys, and outside counsel.
• Initiative, professionalism, sound judgment, and integrity.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, and LexisNexis; experience with SharePoint, Salesforce, Legal Files, Paycom, or ADP is helpful.
