Yoh has an exciting opportunity for a Product Manager - Autonomous Mobility/ Commercial Auto Insurance
to join our insurance and mobility client. This is a foundational role responsible for defining the organization's commercial auto strategy and determining how it should participate in emerging mobility markets, including autonomous vehicles, connected fleets, rideshare, and delivery platforms. The ideal candidate will bring strong commercial auto product expertise, a thoughtful perspective on the future of mobility, and the executive presence to develop and sell a new product vision from the ground up.

Title:
Commercial Auto Product Manager, Emerging Mobility
Compensation:$194,300-$259,100 base salary, depending on experience, plus 20% target incentive
Type:
Full-Time, Direct Hire
Location:
Costa Mesa, CA or Dallas, TX
Industry:
Insurance / Mobility Technology

This role is expected to be onsite most days in the Costa Mesa office. Relocation assistance may be considered for an exceptional candidate. Fully remote work is not currently planned, although limited flexibility may be explored for an outstanding candidate.

Position Overview The organization does not currently offer commercial auto insurance products and is beginning to define its strategy in this space. This person will serve as the initial product leader for the initiative, helping the business understand the opportunity, evaluate potential paths forward, and build the foundation for a future commercial auto and emerging mobility product organization.

The initial focus will be on light commercial auto and mobility segments that align with the organization's existing operational and underwriting capabilities. This is not a heavy trucking role. The position will initially be heavily focused on strategy, market analysis, product vision, business cases, and executive alignment before transitioning into broader product development and team-building responsibilities.

Over time, the role is expected to transition from the emerging mobility strategy team into the broader insurance product management organization, potentially within 12 to 36 months as the product vision and operating model take shape.

Key Responsibilities Commercial Auto and Mobility Strategy

  • Evaluate potential paths, including building the capability internally, acquiring or partnering with an existing organization, or choosing not to enter specific market segments.

  • Analyze the investment, talent, technology, regulatory, operational, and risk requirements associated with each path.

  • Prepare recommendations and business cases for executive leadership.

  • Sell the product vision to senior executives and create alignment around the recommended strategy.

  • Define the capabilities, resources, partnerships, and organizational structure required to execute the strategy.

Product Design and Insurance Expertise
  • Provide expertise on commercial auto product structure, coverage design, underwriting, rating, pricing, and risk selection.

  • Partner with actuarial teams to evaluate pricing methodologies, risk models, exposure data, loss trends, and portfolio economics.

  • Help determine which commercial auto risks and vehicle types align with the organization's existing capabilities.

  • Identify future coverage needs created by autonomous systems, connected vehicles, fleet operations, and changing liability models.

  • Establish the foundation for product governance, regulatory review, underwriting guidelines, and operational processes.

  • Support the development of product requirements and implementation plans as the strategy advances.

Team and Capability Development
  • Define the roles and capabilities needed to build a future commercial auto product team.

  • Recommend the organizational structure and talent profile required for execution.

  • Establish relationships across insurance product management, actuarial, underwriting, claims, legal, compliance, technology, operations, and marketing.

  • Transition from primarily strategic work into product development and execution as the initiative progresses.

Partnership and Market Development
  • Evaluate potential relationships with OEMs, autonomous vehicle companies, mobility platforms, fleet operators, telematics providers, data companies, and insurance technology partners.

  • Assess embedded insurance and partnership-based distribution opportunities.

  • Represent the organization in relevant insurance, mobility, and technology discussions.

  • Develop external market perspective and bring new insights to internal stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, insurance, finance, economics, management, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.

  • Significant experience developing or managing commercial auto insurance products.

  • Strong understanding of the differences between personal auto and commercial auto insurance.

  • Experience with commercial auto pricing, underwriting, actuarial models, risk selection, coverage structures, or portfolio performance.

  • Experience developing product strategy, business cases, market-entry plans, or new insurance capabilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate in an environment where the product, process, and team are still being built.

  • Strong understanding of emerging mobility, autonomous vehicles, connected vehicles, telematics, rideshare, delivery, or commercial fleet trends.

  • Ability to clearly explain how changes in mobility and vehicle technology may affect insurance products, pricing, underwriting, liability, and claims.

  • Proven ability to present recommendations and influence senior executives.

  • Strong written, verbal, analytical, and presentation skills.

  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with practical execution.

  • Ability to work onsite most days in Costa Mesa, California, or relocate to the area.

  • Willingness to travel periodically for executive meetings, industry events, and stakeholder discussions.

  • Join at the earliest stage of a long-term commercial auto and autonomous mobility initiative.
