Registered Nurse (RN) - Full Time - DOU
Schedule: 72 hours per 2-week pay period | 12-hour Night shifts (including weekends - 5 shifts (1 Friday, 1 Saturday, 1 Sunday +2 F/Sa/Sun of choice) per 4 week schedule
Location: Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla

Scripps Green Hospital is a 173-bed facility serving the La Jolla and greater San Diego communities since 1977. Known for outstanding clinical care, the hospital offers a broad range of medical and surgical services, including organ transplantation, oncology, orthopedic surgery, and blood and bone marrow transplantation.

Join the fast-paced Definitive Observation Unit (DOU) as a Registered Nurse. This 38-bed, stepdown-level unit provides care for postoperative spine surgery patients, higher-acuity medical-surgical patients, and stroke and neurology patients. Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:3 or 1:4, based on patient acuity.

Responsibilities

As a Definitive Observation RN, you will:

• Coordinate and provide individualized patient care in a stepdown/observation setting
• Monitor postoperative patients, including vital signs and clinical status
• Recognize and communicate changes in patient condition promptly to physicians and the care team
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support safe, effective care transitions
• Maintain clear, compassionate communication with patients and their families
• Promote an environment focused on restoring function, optimizing care, and honoring each patient's dignity, autonomy, and individuality

The DOU features primarily private patient rooms, many with views of the Pacific Ocean and Torrey Pines Golf Course. You will join a supportive team dedicated to delivering exceptional care for patients with complex and evolving clinical needs.

In order to remain eligible for your retention incentive the following criteria must be met :

• Must remain in original hired FTE Status and Shift (if specified in offer letter)
• Must remain in original department/specialty
• Must remain in original Job Title
• Transfers to other locations will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may result in forfeiting remaining incentive bonus unless specifically noted in your offer letter.

Required Qualifications:

• Registered nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing
• Current CA RN License
• One (1) year of RN experience, 6 months in Inpatient environment
• Current American Heart Association, Healthcare Provider, BLS Certification
• Must be able to speak, read and follow instructions in English
• Must be able to demonstrate positive behaviors

Preferred Qualifications:

• Six (6) months of RN experience Tele, DOU, PCU or Stepdown
• ACLS certification
• NIHSS certification
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing
