Job Description

The Engagement Center Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations and strategic success of the Miner Engagement Center (MEC), a student-powered fundraising and outreach program that generates more than $500,000 annually in support of Missouri S&T. This role recruits, trains, coaches, and supervises Student Engagement Officers, equipping them with the tools, resources, and guidance needed to achieve fundraising and engagement objectives. The manager oversees student staffing, scheduling, payroll, and performance management while analyzing results, refining strategy, and identifying opportunities to increase donor participation, fundraising revenue, and overall program effectiveness.

The Miner Engagement Center Manager position generally operates on a standard Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. schedule. During peak fundraising periods, primarily throughout the fall semester, the MEC is open on Sundays and during evening hours on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. During these periods, the manager will work a modified schedule to oversee student callers and MEC operations. Occasional evening or weekend hours may also be required to support activities of the division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily operations of the Miner Engagement Center, ensuring smooth workflows, prepared platforms, and organized project assignments and timelines
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, attendance, payroll, and performance management for 12-15 student employees
  • Lead, mentor, and develop student employees by providing clear expectations, coaching, professional development opportunities, and consistent supervision
  • Support fundraising and outreach initiatives by preparing calling scripts, managing platform access, monitoring student performance, and assisting with campaign execution
  • Learn and manage key platforms, including VanillaSoft, ThankView, GiveCampus, Canva, CRM Advance, and Microsoft Office, and ensure students are trained to use them effectively
  • Maintain administrative processes, including payroll tracking, pledge processing, pledge reminder letters, donor correspondence, internal trackers, and budget documentation
  • Track engagement metrics and provide reports, recommendations, and insights to the Director of Annual Giving
  • Evaluate fundraising and engagement outcomes, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend strategies to enhance the effectiveness and impact of the Miner Engagement Center
  • Collaborate with campus partners and Advancement units to support coordinated outreach and engagement efforts
  • Provide guidance and support to student employees involved in outreach projects, including basic video and digital content initiatives
  • Model professionalism, effective communication, emotional intelligence, and a positive student-centered work environment
  • Maintain some evening and weekend hours during the fall semester while phonathon activities are in session
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Modified Sundays and evenings in Fall Semester

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years of experience in student supervision, customer service, fundraising, higher education, or related operations
  • Demonstrated leadership, staff development, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong communication, organization, and project management abilities, with attention to detail and the ability to quickly learn new software, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing needs
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with CRM, telefund, or digital engagement platforms
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, student-centered environment
  • Innovative, solutions-oriented mindset; experience with donor outreach, content creation, or digital storytelling preferred
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $53,976 - $65,000 annually.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
