Manager, M&A Strategy & Operations

The Microsoft Acquisitions and Venture Success (MAVS) and Corporate Development organization leads comprehensive technical and commercial due diligence, integration planning, Day 1 and post-close execution, and deal performance governance across Microsoft's acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic ventures. We bring insights, clarity, and adaptable solutions that enable success across people, product, go-to-market, and operations. We focus on mitigating risk, defining strategy, building robust plans, and forging the connections that help us realize the full value of every deal. We partner at all levels - within Microsoft and across acquired companies - across functions and regions.

Our MAVS Integration Management (IM) team is responsible for driving the due diligence and integration/divestiture phases of the deal lifecycle. The IM team also serves in an overarching leadership capacity, establishing a vision, aligning priorities, advancing capabilities, and providing support to the broader set of MAVS functional teams.

Within the IM team is the Strategy and Operations team (S&O) you would be joining. S&O is responsible for providing project management support to deal teams, advancing MAVS process and tool capabilities, and driving strategic M&A and transformation-related initiatives for senior leadership. The S&O M&A Manager is central to driving this work. With a proven track record of success across a variety of project-specific roles, a natural step in career progression is assuming full deal accountability through the Integration Lead role on the IM team.

The ideal candidate brings experience in management consulting, business planning, or similar fields, with a proven track record of leading initiatives end-to-end, from strategy through execution, while managing multiple priorities. They demonstrate strong AI fluency, leveraging AI not just as a tool, but as a strategic capability to scale diligence, integration, and operating rhythms across MAVS. This individual builds trusted relationships with the Engineering Group (EG) and functional partners, aligning diverse perspectives into clear, actionable outcomes, and possesses executive presence.

M&A Strategy and Operations (S&O)

• Shape M&A strategy and transformation: Identify and lead opportunities to strengthen due diligence, integration, divestitures, and post-close value realization process across the M&A portfolio.
• Build and scale MAVS capabilities: Develop smarter, more consistent processes, tools, datasets, and operating rhythms, leveraging AI and automation to improve insights, rigor, and efficiency.
• Drive high-impact strategic initiatives: Translate complex, ambiguous challenges into clear strategies and actionable outcomes, leading cross-functional priorities and special projects for senior leadership.

M&A Diligence and Integration Project Management:

• Drive M&A diligence and integration execution: Partner with Integration Leads to orchestrate confirmatory due diligence, integration planning and execution, and deal performance tracking, bringing structure and governance to complex transactions.
• Lead cross-functional deal execution: Mobilize multi-functional teams around clear outcomes, translating strategy into robust end-to-end plans, managing milestones, dependencies, risks, and decisions, and driving accountability in highly visible, time-sensitive environments.
• Strengthen alignment and improve the practice: Build trusted partnerships across deal teams and leadership, establish effective communication and governance rhythms, and translate deal learnings into actionable improvements that strengthen future M&A execution.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Management, Human Resources, or Business AND 3+ years experience in project management, business operations, finance and analysis, strategic or relationship management role AND/OR M&A equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

• Proven effectiveness in building case for change and in driving complex multi-stakeholder programs to desired results.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation experience and interpersonal skills preferred.
• Able to thrive in a non-static, high paced work environment under both direct accountability and influence structures.
• Interest in technology M&A with intellectual curiosity to learn Microsoft strategy and business/operating models.
• Detail-oriented; fluency with Microsoft productivity applications and AI products (Office 365; Power BI, Scout).

Merger & Acquisition Integration IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $86,100 - $169,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $113,300 - $187,400 per year.
