REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

• Active Secret security clearance required.
• Must be able to maintain all required installation, safety, and operational access credentials.

• 9 years of applicable experience supporting engineering, design, or testing of hardware in the appropriate area of specialization; or

4 years of applicable college, vocational, military, or technical school and 5 years of applicable experience in the assigned specialty area

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

• Knowledge of range safety requirements including inspection of facilities and equipment for safety hazards and maintenance that are utilized for testing. Are required to quickly adapt to changes in test schedules and procedures to ensure the successful completion of the MSE mission.

• Experience supporting dynamic testing in laboratory, shop, or field environments.
• Experience with electrodynamic shaker systems, hydraulic systems, shock and drop testing, pendulum-impact testing, or acoustic test equipment.
• Experience setting up and maintaining structural fixtures, test platforms, and recurring qualification or lot-test configurations.
• Experience supporting testing of live munitions, aviation systems, missile systems, or related military hardware.
• Experience operating military vehicles, support equipment, cranes, forklifts, or material-handling equipment in support of test operations.
• Experience working in a high-tempo technical environment with strict safety, quality, and procedural compliance requirements.
• Ability to work effectively with minimal engineering support during recurring or established test events.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of dynamic test support operations and mechanical test setup practices.
• Ability to perform advanced mechanical assembly, setup, adjustment, and teardown of test hardware and fixtures.
• Ability to inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain dynamic test equipment and related support systems.
• Ability to read and follow engineering drawings, procedures, technical instructions, and test documentation.
• Ability to work safely around hazardous test articles, explosive items, heavy equipment, hydraulic systems, and energized mechanical systems, as applicable.
• Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, technicians, and quality personnel.
• Ability to prioritize work, adapt to schedule changes, and support concurrent test activities.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Work is performed in laboratory, shop, and field-test environments at Redstone Arsenal.
• Position may require prolonged standing, climbing, lifting, bending, carrying, and working around noise, vibration, suspended loads, moving equipment, weather, and hazardous materials.
• Position may require overtime, shift work, outdoor support, and schedule flexibility during test execution periods.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Engineering Technician V - ECD Dynamics Lab provides advanced technical support for dynamic test planning, setup, execution, maintenance, teardown, and troubleshooting in support of RTES test operations. This position supports engineering and test activities involving live munitions, aviation systems, missile systems, subsystems, test fixtures, and associated support equipment. The technician operates with limited supervision and is expected to execute complex mechanical and dynamic test setups, support recurring and non-recurring test configurations, assist with fixture integration, and help ensure safe, accurate, and timely test execution in laboratory and field environments.

• Support dynamic testing of live munitions, aviation systems, missile systems, and associated subsystems in the Dynamics Lab.
• Perform complex mechanical test setups using dynamic test equipment such as electrodynamic shakers, hydraulic systems, pendulum-impact equipment, drop and shock systems, acoustic-test equipment, and field-test configurations.
• Set up, modify, maintain, and tear down structural test fixtures and recurring qualification and lot-test configurations.
• Assist with test article installation, alignment, securing, and hardware integration for dynamic and structural testing events.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and test-support equipment issues with limited engineering oversight.
• Support pre-test, live-test, and post-test operations, including equipment inspections, maintenance actions, and recovery tasks.
• Interpret technical procedures, setup instructions, engineering drawings, and test documentation to accomplish assigned tasks.
• Document maintenance actions, setup discrepancies, hardware issues, and test-support observations.
• Ensure compliance with site safety, explosive safety, and equipment-handling procedures during all lab and field operations.
• Coordinate daily with engineers, quality-control personnel, test directors, and other technicians to meet schedule and mission requirements.
• Support training of junior technicians and contribute to safe and repeatable lab execution standards.
