Lead Clinical Pharmacist

The Lead Pharmacist assists the pharmacy leadership team in facilitating the daily operational or clinical activities of the pharmacy.

What You Will Do

• Oversight of a designated area, service line, initiative or specialty within the pharmacy department.
• May require Responsible Person/TDDD license responsibility for a designated pharmacy.
• Guide the orientation and training of new and existing professional and technical staff for their specific job descriptions; monitor and/or assess ongoing competency.
• May serve as a Residency Program Director or Coordinator.
• Leadership of and/or participation in relevant local and/or system committees.
• Lead position can be further designated as Operations, Clinical or Dual Role/Combination.
• OPERATIONS LEAD assignment may also include:
  * Primary resource and point of escalation for operational issues.
  * Oversight and/or support of department operations, including but not limited to: workflow, technology, inventory, staffing and daily logistics.
  * Examples of duties include: Ensure compliance with all state and federal pharmacy regulations; ensure controlled substance security and accountability measures; assist in the development and enforcement of operational policy and procedure. (This is not an exhaustive list; specific duties will be determined at individual sites.)
  * Concurrent practice as a Clinical Pharmacist.
• CLINICAL LEAD assignment may also include:
  * Primary resource and point of escalation for clinical practice issues.
  * Oversight and/or support of clinical service line(s).
  * Examples of duties include: Develop and standardize clinical intervention processes; involvement in multidisciplinary teaching and education; assist in the development and enforcement of clinical practice guidelines/order sets, treatment plans, policy and procedure. (This is not an exhaustive list; specific duties will be determined at individual sites.)
  * Concurrent practice as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist.

• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all policies and standards.

• Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
