Finance, Bankruptcy & Restructuring Counsel (Bankruptcy & Creditors' Rights) - Texas

Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP seeks a Counsel to join the Firm's Finance, Bankruptcy & Restructuring Practice Group in Texas with preference for Houston or Dallas.

The successful candidate will represent financial institutions, lenders, finance companies, and other creditors in complex commercial and consumer matters nationwide. This position offers the opportunity to work on consumer bankruptcy, creditors' rights, and distressed asset recovery matters and matter management. This is an off-track Counsel position with a reduced billable-hour requirement and no expectation for business development or firm management responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

• Represent financial institutions, lenders, and other creditors in bankruptcy matters under Chapters 7, 11, 12, and 13.
• Handle contested bankruptcy matters, including plan objections, motions for relief from stay, valuation disputes, and related proceedings.
• Pursue collateral recovery remedies, including replevin and detinue actions, in jurisdictions across the country.
• Handle judgment enforcement, deficiency litigation, forfeiture claims, and related recovery proceedings.
• Draft and argue motions, pleadings, and settlement agreements.
• Appear in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts, as well as mediations, arbitrations, and depositions.
• Manage multiple matters simultaneously while communicating effectively with opposing counsel and internal teams.
  

Qualifications:

• Must be admitted to the Texas bar or eligible for immediate admission.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in bankruptcy, creditors' rights, financial services litigation, or a related practice area.
• Experience handling bankruptcy proceedings and related litigation matters.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex matters.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across offices and practice groups.
