Engineering Technician Senior

Job Description:

Dynamo Technologies LLC is seeking an Engineering Technician Senior to support an assigned Integrated Product Team (IPT) and provide engineering technician expertise for assigned programs and products throughout all phases of the life cycle model. The successful candidate will support acquisition life cycle activities, including development, production, test, technical management, systems engineering, and test and evaluation. This position requires extensive experience supporting Defense Acquisition System programs and the ability to translate operational capability needs into technical requirements, evaluate system designs and engineering changes, assess technical risks, and support the development and execution of technical and test plans.

Duties/ Responsibilities

• Support assigned programs and products with respect to acquisition life cycle activities, including development, production, test, and technical management.
• Identify and document technical requirements for weapon system products.
• Develop technical/engineering and test/verification plans that specify objectives and methods for fulfilling mission and system requirements.
• Apply computer science principles and broad technical knowledge to interpret and flow down capability needs and requirements, evaluate design approaches and trade-offs, and develop test and verification strategies within life cycle cost and schedule constraints.
• Evaluate technical risks and make independent technical decisions or recommend technical options to optimize system performance and acquisition schedules.
• Develop and originate new features in addition to improving, extending, or validating existing data, methods, or techniques.
• Assist in translating DoD user requirements into system requirements.
• Review overall system design baseline, architecture, and interoperability requirements and assist in developing system specifications and system architecture products.
• Perform independent analyses of proposed engineering changes and specifications and provide the Government with evaluations and recommendations regarding the acceptability of vendor proposals.
• Support life cycle cost evaluations for proposed systems and components.
• Provide test and evaluation support, including test planning, test conduct, and evaluation of test results against operational requirements.
• Participate in Integrated Test Teams (ITTs), Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), and other related system or program events.
• Assist in determining the capability and availability of major DoD and civilian test resources and facilities.
• Assist in scheduling and securing required test resources in support of project and program office objectives.
• Monitor, assess, and report on Test and Evaluation (T&E) efforts for systems.
• Assist with the design, planning, execution, analysis, reporting, and documentation of test and evaluation programs, including applicable certifications and procedures.
• Assess the performance of systems, subsystems, components, and equipment.
• Support the development of system and program technical plans, including reviewing technical documents, participating in program or system Working Groups, tracking the status of risks and issue resolution, and reviewing test plans, procedures, and data.
• Support special studies to define and evaluate alternative technical approaches.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Experience completing acquisition engineering and technical tasks that support the Life Cycle Management (LCM) of products and systems within Defense Acquisition System processes.
• Experience supporting Defense Acquisition System pathways, including UCA, MTA, MCA, Software Acquisition, or Acquisition of Services.
• Knowledge of regulations, policies, and operating instructions related to the preparation of technical documents, technical data, and systems engineering execution.
• Experience identifying and documenting technical requirements for weapon systems or related products.
• Experience developing and reviewing technical, engineering, test, and verification plans.
• Ability to translate DoD user requirements into system and technical requirements.
• Ability to evaluate system design approaches, technical trade-offs, engineering changes, and technical risks.
• Ability to review system architecture, interoperability requirements, system specifications, and other technical products.
• Knowledge of test and evaluation processes, including test planning, execution, analysis, and reporting.
• Ability to perform independent technical analyses and provide recommendations regarding proposed engineering changes and vendor proposals.
• Ability to support technical activities throughout development, production, testing, and other phases of the acquisition life cycle.
• Ability to perform tasks and oversee the efforts of junior and journeyman personnel within the technical/professional discipline.

Nice to Have Skills

• Bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited school in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Information Technology, or Computer Science.
• Experience participating in Integrated Test Teams (ITTs) and Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs).
• Experience supporting system or program Working Groups.
• Experience with life cycle cost evaluations for systems and components.
• Experience coordinating and securing DoD or civilian test resources and facilities.
• Experience supporting technical risk and issue management activities.

Education and Experience:

• A bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited school in Engineering, Engineering Technology, IT, or Computer Science is preferred.
• Master's or Doctorate Degree in a related field and ten years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, five years of which must be in DoD acquisition.
• Or bachelor's degree in a related field and 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, five of which must be in DoD acquisition.
• Or 15 years of directly related experience with proper certifications as described in the PWS labor category performance requirements, eight of which must be in DoD acquisition.
