Assistant Professor in Regional & Community Planning

We are seeking qualified candidates from all areas of planning. Ideal candidates will have teaching, research, and/or practical experience in urban design and development, planning theory, qualitative methods and/or community engagement. Successful candidate will teach courses in our Regional & Community Planning, Real Estate and Community Development, and Community Development programs.

As a member of the LARCP faculty, the successful candidate will:
* Deliver creative, effective teaching in core curricula and area of expertise
* Engage in significant, peer-reviewed research, scholarship, and/or creative activities
* Supervise independent graduate research
* Participate in departmental, college, university, and professional service
* Contribute to an environment that fosters collegiality internally and externally through interdisciplinary collaboration

The Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional & Community Planning (LARCP) is in the College of Architecture, Planning and Design (APDesign) at Kansas State University (K-State), a land grant institution located in Manhattan, KS. APDesign is an interdisciplinary design college with top-ranked and accredited professional planning and design programs situated in Seaton/Regnier Complex, a world-class facility in the heart of campus. The department offers accredited master's degrees in Regional & Community Planning and Landscape Architecture through five-year non-baccalaureate and traditional post-baccalaureate tracks. The department also offers a bachelor's degree in Real Estate and Community Development and an online master's degree in Community Development, as well as an undergraduate certificate and minor in Community Planning and a graduate certificate in Community Development. In addition, APDesign offers an interdisciplinary Ph.D. degree in Environmental Design & Planning.

This position is On-site.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Ph.D. in Planning or a closely allied field or show evidence that a Ph.D. will be completed prior to the start of the appointment
* Demonstrated evidence of or potential for inspired teaching
* Demonstrated evidence of or potential for scholarly productivity
* Ability to help students develop career-ready professional skills
* Ability to work with a wide range of student interests and academic levels

The degree requirement is necessary for accreditation purposes and to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Ability to expand existing program faculty expertise and grow the department in new areas
* A degree in Planning or Community Development
* Experience with community-engaged research or service-learning projects
* Relevant professional experience
