Job Summary:

Join the Facilities Management team as a Human Resources Business Partner or Human Resources Specialist and play a key role in supporting the employees who keep our campuses running smoothly. Based at the Anschutz Medical Campus and Denver Campus, these positions work closely with the Associate Vice Chancellor, Directors, Managers, Supervisors, and the Human Resources Department to coordinate, execute, and enhance a wide range of HR processes. Responsibilities include managing and ensuring payroll accuracy; coordinating hiring activities, onboarding, and new employee orientation; maintaining current vacancy rosters and organizational charts; supporting performance management initiatives; maintaining accurate and timely employee data in PeopleSoft and other HRIS systems; coordinating health and drug screenings; managing the Facilities student employment program; maintaining departmental personnel files; processing Workers' Compensation and Family and Medical Leave documentation; assisting with policy and procedure development; and supporting special projects as assigned. This role is ideal for a collaborative, detail-oriented professional who values accuracy, organization, and exceptional customer service while creating a positive and seamless employee experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment, Onboarding & Offboarding: Coordinate recruitment activities, including job postings, candidate outreach, and hiring processes. Manage onboarding and offboarding activities, facilitate new employee orientation sessions, and administer the Facilities student employment program to ensure a seamless employee experience.

  • Performance Management & Employee Relations: Support performance management processes by collecting and reviewing performance plans, coaching documentation, and evaluations. Provide guidance to supervisors and leadership on goal setting, performance discussions, employee development, and employee relations matters, including conflict resolution and disciplinary actions, escalating complex issues as appropriate.

  • HRIS, Payroll & Data Management: Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS systems, generate reports, reconcile leave and payroll accruals, process payroll, manage timekeeping systems, and resolve payroll and timekeeping discrepancies in a timely manner.

  • Leave Administration & Compliance: Provide guidance and support regarding Family and Medical Leave (FMLA), Workers' Compensation, and other leave programs. Track leave usage, review documentation, process payroll-related entries, and ensure compliance with applicable policies and regulations.

  • Employee Support, Reporting & Special Projects: Deliver responsive customer service by addressing employee HR and payroll inquiries. Assist with HR metrics, reporting, and trend analysis to support data-informed decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives. Support the Human Resources Program Manager and Human Resources team with special projects.

Work Location:

Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings. Facilities Management is over the Anschutz Medical Campus and Denver Campus. This role may be required to report in person on both campuses.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

HR Specialist:

  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, public policy, business, higher education administration, social sciences, behavioral sciences or a directly related field from an accredited institution

  • One (1) year of professional experience in human resources or payroll processes

HR Business Partner:

  • A bachelor's degree in public administration, public policy, business, higher education administration, social sciences, behavioral sciences or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

  • Two (2) years of professional level experience in human resources and payroll processes.

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

HR Specialist:

  • 1-2 years prior experience working in payroll or human resources for a large organization or higher education.

  • 1-2 years experience working with a variety of HRIS systems, such as PeopleSoft HCM and timekeeping systems.

  • 1-2 years experience with State personnel laws, rules, regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

  • 1-2 years experience with position management within state agencies or higher education institutions.

HR Business Partner:

  • 2+ years prior experience working in payroll or human resources for a large organization or higher education.

  • 2+ years experience working with a variety of HRIS systems, such as PeopleSoft HCM and timekeeping systems.

  • 2+ years experience with State personnel laws, rules, regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

  • 2+ years prior experience working with a unionized organization

  • 2+ years experience managing and documenting Workers' Compensation and Family Medical Leave.

  • 2+ years experience with position management within state agencies or higher education institutions.

  • 2+ years experience with employee relations.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, including public speaking.

  • Present and maintain a professional, polished, and positive demeanor/disposition while working with internal and external stakeholders in a dynamic, high-paced environment.

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential issues in a professional manner.

  • Excellent time management, multi-tasking, and organization skills; ability to take direction and use judgment to meet multiple deadlines.

  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word and open to learning additional HR systems.

  • HR Business Partner: Expertise in using HR analytics to identify insights, forecast trends and facilitate informed decision-making.

  • Experience or familiarity with data analysis, reporting tools, artificial intelligence (AI), or emerging technologies, gained through professional experience, education, training, certifications, or self-directed learning, to support effective HR practices and decision-making.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as:

  • HR Specialist: $52,793 - $61,767

  • HR Business Partner: $63,000 - $76,478

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
