Description
The Documentation Control Specialist I is responsible for all duties associated with document and record management of work instructions, production processes and forms. This position will be primarily responsible for updating changes in existing work instructions, production processes, and forms. The position may also create new forms, instructions or process documentation. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Maintain revision control with work instructions, work processes, and forms on the production floor, electronic quality management system (eQMS), and ERP system. * Manage customer drawing files, including revision control and obsolescence. * Responsible for reviewing, approving and maintaining production work instructions, work processes and forms. * Gathers information, drawings, and technical data from Engineering, Operations and the Quality team. * Assists in the Deviation Process in accordance to Global Work Instruction 400-0090. * Collaborate with production employees, engineers and production supervisors on change requests for work processes. * Oversees controlled-copy distributions of work instructions and documents within the eQMS. * Adheres to plant and corporate safety policies. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * May be responsible for authoring document edits and changes. * Assists engineers with special projects as assigned. * May assist in other areas or perform other duties as required by fluctuating business needs. * Updates and maintains global documents, such as quality manuals and risk logs. Assist coating centers with adopting global document templates. * Oversees and coordinates document approvals within the EQMS. * Assist with eQMS activities and maintenance, such as document property audits, document reviews, and other functions. Coordinate document translations of global documents, ensuring that translations align with the base English document. * May be asked to assist with contract review as needed EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one or more years of technical writing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of training and experience. BASIC SKILLS: * Possesses well-developed communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. * Ability to read, write and follow written or verbal instructions. * Ability to speak, read and write fluent English. Possesses proven ability to write with proper punctuation, grammar, and spelling. * Ability to write work instructions, work processes and forms for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. * Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. * Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and translate them into an interpretable work instruction for the production floor. * Has competent knowledge of tools and techniques for document control/technical writing. * Ability to interact closely with many departments to support customer focus and efficient operations. * Is well-organized and detail oriented. * Ability to interact professionally with all employees. * Self-motivated and able to work with little direct supervision. * Intermediate user level with Microsoft Word and Excel products.
