Job Summary

The Entry-Level Data Center Technician supports the installation, maintenance, and organization of structured cabling and equipment within critical data center environments. This contract-to-hire position provides hands-on experience with fiber and copper cabling, cable management, equipment installation, infrastructure buildouts, and safety procedures. Technicians work onsite with project teams in new construction environments and must be comfortable working at heights, wearing required PPE, and supporting infrastructure projects that connect racks, servers, equipment, and data center spaces.

Job Responsibilities




  • Perform cable infrastructure and fiber rough-in installations.



  • Pull, dress, label, patch, test, and organize structured cabling.



  • Perform cable and fiber termination.



  • Rack and stack customer equipment.



  • Build out server racks and complete rack elevations.



  • Install fiber trays, ladder racks, power trays, cabinets, and related infrastructure.



  • Support structured cabling and telecommunications infrastructure installations.



  • Receive materials and assemble required hardware.



  • Perform Outside Plant (OSP) installations, including routing fiber into data center facilities.



  • Read and follow blueprints and installation plans.



  • Maintain professional written and verbal communication with colleagues and management.



  • Follow established safety guidelines and procedures, including proper PPE use, jobsite cleanup, and OSHA requirements.




Job Requirements




  • 0-2 years of Data Center Technician, structured cabling, telecommunications, low voltage, or related experience.



  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.



  • OSHA 10 certification preferred.



  • Ability to read and follow blueprints and installation documentation.



  • Ability to use basic hand tools, including a multi-bit screwdriver, tape measure, snips, needle-nose pliers, channel-lock pliers, punch-down tool, and flashlight.



  • Ability to work safely on ladders and scissor lifts and in confined spaces.



  • Ability to work at heights while wearing required PPE.



  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move materials weighing up to 75 pounds.



  • Ability to stand and remain physically active for the duration of the shift.



  • Ability to work effectively in new construction and active data center environments.



  • Must have appropriate work boots, gloves, and a tool pouch for onsite work.



  • Must be available to work overtime and weekends as required.



  • Must be willing to travel as required.
