Description & Requirements
Join the Forvis Mazars Strategy & Finance Healthcare Consulting team and help healthcare leaders make confident decisions in a rapidly changing payment and regulatory environment. In this senior role, you will bring advanced healthcare economics, econometric modeling, and payment-policy expertise to help clients evaluate alternative payment models, episode-based reimbursement, value-based care opportunities, and strategic financial performance. You will translate complex data and analytical methods into clear, executive-ready insights that support growth, improve performance, and strengthen decision-making across the healthcare continuum
What You Will Do:
  • Lead healthcare econometric analysis and financial modeling for alternative payment models (APMs), episode-based reimbursement, and policy-driven payment strategies in regulatory- and CMS-driven environments.
  • Design APM, episode-level, utilization, financial, and performance models using CMS Virtual Research Data Center (VRDC), CMS Innovation Center (CMMI) / Innovator data, and relevant CMS public-use benchmarks and impact files.
  • Apply defensible statistical and econometric methods, including causal inference, attribution, regression and multivariate modeling, counterfactual analysis, scenario modeling, and sensitivity analysis.
  • Interpret claims-based, enrollment, utilization, quality, reconciliation, and performance outputs within CMS methodological and disclosure constraints.
  • Identify and explain drivers of client performance, including utilization patterns, post-acute trends, site-of-care shifts, pricing, case mix, attribution, benchmarking, and risk-adjustment design.
  • Develop policy-aware interpretations that support strategic, operational, and go-forward decisions for healthcare executives, regulators, and client stakeholders.
  • Translate complex analytical results into clear, credible narratives, executive-ready recommendations, and high-impact client deliverables.
  • Lead components of client engagements, including project planning, stakeholder communication, analytical approach development, model interpretation, and results delivery.
  • Manage internal and external workstreams, proactively identify engagement risks, develop practical solutions, and help deliver an unmatched client experience.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members, including analysts and consultants supporting healthcare economics, payment modeling, and financial analysis workstreams.
  • Contribute to the growth of the practice by expanding subject matter expertise, developing reusable assets, and supporting market-facing healthcare strategy and finance offerings.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in economics, applied economics, statistics, quantitative policy analysis, finance, healthcare administration, business, or a related quantitative or healthcare discipline.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in healthcare consulting, healthcare economics, payment policy, value-based care, quantitative analytics, financial modeling, or related healthcare industry roles.
  • Background in econometrics, applied economics, statistics, or quantitative policy analysis, with deep expertise in causal inference, attribution, and defensible analytical methodologies.
  • Experience with regression and multivariate modeling, episode-based and population-based payment frameworks, counterfactual analysis, scenario modeling, and sensitivity analysis.
  • Strong understanding of alternative payment models, including bundled and episode-based payment models, total cost of care and shared savings frameworks, attribution, benchmarking, and risk-adjustment design.
  • Experience analyzing or overseeing claims-based, enrollment, utilization, and performance analyses using CMS data environments, payer data, provider data, or comparable healthcare datasets.
  • Experience working with CMMI / Innovator data related to alternative payment model participation, performance, utilization, quality, and reconciliation outputs.
  • Ability to align CMS data structures with econometric models and policy intent and to apply defensible proxy approaches when standardized or reconciled amounts are not published.
  • Proven ability to translate complex analytical results into clear, credible narratives for executives, regulators, and clients.
  • Experience managing engagement teams and mentoring junior team members.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including intermediate to advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree such as MA, MS, PhD, MBA, MHA, MPH, or MPA in economics, statistics, analytics, public policy, healthcare administration, business, or a related field.
  • Experience in healthcare strategy, value-based care, payment innovation, or healthcare policy consulting within a professional services firm.
  • Experience developing models and advisory content for CMS payment models such as Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement Extension (CJR-X), Transforming Episode Accountability Model (TEAM), Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP), Accountable Care Organization Realizing Equity, Access, and Community Health (ACO REACH), or other alternative payment models.
  • Familiarity with CMS public-use benchmarks and impact files to support proxy modeling and comparative analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to build or scale a consulting capability, develop go-to-market assets, and collaborate across advisory, data, and analytics teams.
