The Senior Scientist will play a key role within the Advanced Materials Group, a corporate research organization that drives long-range innovation and technology development in support of our global business units. This position is central to the company's organic growth strategy, working at the intersection of breakthrough materials research, strategic supplier partnerships, start-up engagement, and university collaborations to identify, develop, and commercialize differentiated technologies. The successful candidate will combine a strong foundation in synthetic organic or polymer chemistry with a passion for innovation and a curiosity for emerging technologies. The role requires hands-on expertise in modern analytical and characterization techniques, including NMR, DSC, TGA, GPC, and rheological analysis, as well as strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders. Candidates should also possess an interest in leveraging data-driven approaches to accelerate innovation, including the development of predictive models and material informatics capabilities. Experience with Python programming, data science, or machine learning tools is highly desirable.

PRIMARY DUTIES *Planning and leading large-scale research and development projects, using project management discipline, design of experiment (DOE) methodologies and statistical analysis to draw conclusions and present solutions based on understanding of structure-property-performance relationships. *Generating new product, process or method concepts within an area of specialty. *Meeting research goals within time and budget constraints. *Providing technical leadership of projects through the Stage-Gate process. *Preparing and presenting reports to customers and business leaders. *Participating in global or cross-functional project teams, collaborating across functional and regional boundaries. *Coaching and mentoring others in the lab. *Supporting operations to facilitate scale-up and efficient production of developed technologies. *Fulfilling responsibilities as required by the Quality System for the site/business unit. *Working in a safe and efficient manner. *A Senior Scientist I has a deep understanding of markets and applications, enabling the scientist to proactively identify new opportunities and gain buy-in from senior leadership to create projects or initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

At least 5 years of related work experience* Bachelors degree in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering/Materials Science/Polymer Science and 5 years of professional industry experience; prefer chemical industry experience

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.

The salary for this role is $90,000-$110,000.
