Position Title: Scientist Work Location: Worcester, MA 01604 Assignment Duration: 6+ months (possible extension- performance based) Work Schedule: Not specified Position Summary: The hiring manager is seeking a Scientist II for a 100% laboratory support role focused on in vitro immunology assays supporting pipeline safety studies. The position is highly hands-on and centers around generating high-quality experimental data rather than leading research projects. Background & Context: The Scientist II will report directly to manager while working closely within a collaborative immunology team. The hiring manager emphasized that although she manages the position, the successful candidate will work closely with the broader team and therefore collaboration and teamwork are extremely important. This position is a backfill. Key Responsibilities: The selected candidate will support laboratory operations by: Performing in vitro immunology assays Supporting T-cell functional assays Supporting dendritic cell functional assays Sample preparation PBMC isolation Primary immune cell handling Running Flow Cytometry experiments Performing cytokine release assays T-cell proliferation assays Data analysis Generating experimental data Preparing Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) documentation Independently managing generated data Following established laboratory protocols Potentially assisting with assay optimization depending on experience and capability Qualification & Experience: Must-Have Skills Flow Cytometry The hiring manager identified Flow Cytometry as a mandatory skill. Although cell culture techniques can be taught, candidates must already possess hands-on Flow Cytometry experience. PBMC Isolation & Primary Immune Cells Experience working with: Human PBMC isolation Primary immune cells was identified as a must-have requirement because these techniques form the core of the team's work. Immunology Experience Preferred experience includes: T-cell assays Dendritic cell assays Broader immune cell experience is acceptable if candidates possess strong immunology fundamentals. Cell Culture Cell culture experience is important; however, the hiring manager stated that cell culture can be trained, unlike Flow Cytometry. However, PhD candidates may still be considered if they are comfortable with the compensation and contractor nature of the role.
