Responsible for assisting the managers of the Surgical Services and Invasive Cardiology departments in inventory management. Assists the department leaders in shaping and implementing inventory controls including assistance in developing par levels for inventory, monitoring usage, determining the typer of equipment needed, maintaining and assessing new technology, interfacing with multiple disciplines within the hospital for inventory management, working with physicians to select/maintain appropriate inventories, assisting with information gathering for negotiations in vendor contracting, monitoring vendor contracts to ensure quotas are met, and mangaging government regulated tracking items. Serves on organization wide value analysis team or similar teams.

  1. *Ensures that appropriate inventory is available for invasive cardiology, endovascular, and electrophysiology procedures while monitoring budget constraints. Collaborates with other departments such as Radiology and Surgery on like items to secure pricing and help with inventory as needed.






  1. *Develops par levels and monitors need to vary par levels.






  1. *Monitors usage of invasive cardiac equipment; assesses new technology and obtains equipment as requested.






  1. *Organizes inventory to maximize efficiency of usage.






  1. *Develops parameters for cost containment of inventory; assists departmental managers in conducting inventory management and performing audit procedures.






  1. *Responsible for mandated tracking by the federal government of implantable products.






  1. *Develops an in-depth knowledge of current equipment used in the Invasive Cardiology and Surgical Services departments; communicates knowledge to staff and physicians about product lines.






  1. *Assesses, coordinates and assists in providing educational opportunities for staff regarding new technology and procedures.






  1. *Acts as departmental liaison for inventory and equipment questions.






  1. *Routinely meets with vendors and assesses technology; assists with contract negotiations, implementation and follow-up of usage of contract items.






  1. *Interfaces with multiple disciplines in the hospital while coordinating inventory.






  1. *Directs staff and physicians towards the achievement of clinical and organizational outcomes through proper equipment selection and usage.






  1. Creates and reviews inventory usage data as needed






  1. Interprets organizational goals, objectives and operational plans regarding inventory to staff; assists managers in developing related policies and procedures.






  1. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.




EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors Degree in either nursing, health sciences, nutrition, business or a related field required. Previous experience in inventory control preferred.
