Description

The Academic Personnel Supervisor provides leadership and oversight for academic and staff personnel operations across 11 departments within the Basic Science Human Resources Cluster. Supervising a team of HR professionals, the incumbent manages a broad range of personnel functions, including academic recruitment, advancement, separation, dossier management, leave administration, employee relations, payroll, benefits, credentialing, privileging, visa processing, and special licensing programs.

Serving as a trusted advisor to departmental leadership, the Academic Personnel Supervisor applies indepth knowledge of academic personnel policies and procedures to ensure compliance with University of California, UCLA, David Geffen School of Medicine (DGSOM), and departmental requirements. The role partners closely with stakeholders to deliver highquality HR services, support faculty and staff success, and promote effective, compliant personnel practices across the cluster.

Salary: $8,183.33 - $17,883.33 monthly

Qualifications

Required


  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 years minimum supervisor experience
  • 4-6 years Subject matter expertise for area(s) of greatest % responsibility
  • Thorough knowledge of UC-wide Academic Personnel Policies (APM) and bargaining union contracts, and the procedures and practices that govern academic personnel administration.
  • Thorough knowledge of Compensation Plan bylaws including Outside Professional Activities and the procedures and practices that govern these.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, train, evaluate, and recruit staff.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to conduct analysis, develop recommendations, and resolve issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize work and manage divergent needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and complete projects within specified deadlines.
  • Adept in handling sensitive information and / or situations and maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Adept in meeting deadlines despite frequent interruptions.
  • Adept in composing business, personnel and/or payroll correspondence.

Preferred


  • 1-3 years UCPath / PeopleSoft or equivalent payroll system
  • 1-3 years Opus/Interfolio or equivalent dossier system
  • 1-3 years Academic Recruit or equivalent recruitment system
