Job Description

The UCSF Memory and Aging Center (MAC) is a dynamic multidisciplinary clinical and translational research program investigating neurodegenerative diseases. Our research is focused on understanding the best predictive factors and earliest causative changes in neurodegenerative disorders.

The Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator, under the supervision of Dr. Joel Kramer, will have the opportunity to delve into cutting-edge research on identifying the biological and lifestyle factors that contribute to resistance and residence to Alzheimer's disease and related neurodegenerative diseases. This position is part of an NIH-funded project that follows hundreds of community dwelling elderly. The assistant CRC will be responsible for assisting with our outreach efforts in the Spanish-speaking community, scheduling in-person visits, scheduling blood draws, MRI scans, and neurological evaluations, carrying out cognitive assessments, scheduling ancillary studies like PET scans, Fitbit monitoring, and remote cognitive assessments. Assistant CRC duties will include (but are not limited to) data entry and data management, scheduling/recruitment of participants, CHR/IRB upkeep, and managing the day-to-day function of the projects.

Applicants should have a strong interest in neuroscience, solid research experience, comfort working with human subjects, and excellent organizational skills. The candidate will be involved in gathering a wide variety of research data, with particular emphasis on generating datasets and reports based on Qualtrics, REDCap, preparing questionnaires, participating in data collection, and setting up the surveys conducted by the PI or CRC.

Patient Management

Working in collaboration with others, schedules and tracks patient visits, tests, procedures and follow up according to protocol; provides calendars and schedules to patients; obtains insurance authorization for tests/procedures; in collaboration with team members, codes and documents toxicities and adverse events; reports adverse events to appropriate University and outside agencies; obtains, processes and ships specimens.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications and presentation skills; excellent organizational skills; and excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively in a diverse team

  • Proficiency in data analyses software (SPSS, Stata, MatLab)
  • Willingness to perform administrative duties
