Job Description/Tasks/Responsibilities
- Ensures the proper functioning, cleanliness and sanitization of respirators used by EnergySolutions employees. Performs routine cleaning, maintenance and repairs of respirators. Ensures respirators are cleaned, sanitized, tested and inspected in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, manufacturer instructions and company policies and procedures.
- Disassembles, cleans, disinfects, stores, inspects, repairs and tests respirators in accordance with OSHA regulations and manufacturer specifications. These tasks are necessary to ensure worker health and safety by protecting users from inhaling harmful dust, fumes, vapors and/or gases and to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and local, state and federal regulations.
- Cleans and disinfects respirators maintained for routine and emergency use after each use.
- Cleans and disinfects respirators used in fit testing and training after each use.
- Inspects respirators maintained for use in emergency situations at least monthly for proper functioning.
- Ensures respirators are stored to protect them from damage, contamination, dust, sunlight, extreme temperatures, excessive moisture, damaging chemicals and any possible deformation of the face piece and exhalation valve.
- Ensures respirators are kept accessible to work areas.
- Tests respirators for proper functioning, tightness of connections and condition of various parts including, but not limited to, the face piece, head straps, valves, connecting tube and cartridges, canisters and filters.
- Checks elastomeric parts for pliability and signs of deterioration.
- Certifies respirators by documenting the date of inspection, name (or signature) of the inspector, inspection findings, any required remedial action and a serial number or other means of identifying the respirator.
- Provides evidence of certification on a tag or label that is attached to the storage compartment for the respirator, is kept with the respirator or is included in inspection reports stored as paper or electronic files. Maintains this information until replaced by documentation from a subsequent certification.
- Collects, sorts, stacks, and packages protective clothing from cleaning and laundry operations.
- Retrieves soiled scrubs and replenishes supply.
- Prepares laundry samples and bar code laundry boxes for inventory prior to shipment.
- Follows all safety rules, regulations and procedures. Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
- Receives oral and/or written instructions from supervisors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and environments wherein there is exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, noxious odors, gases, chemicals and mechanical and electrical hazards
- Ability to bend and stoop for intermittent periods of time
- Ability to pass a pre-employment/hazwoper physical
- Basic computer skills

Education
- High School diploma or GED
|
Certifications
- Forklift and crane operating certifications
- DOE Certified Rad Worker II and respirator qualified
- 24 hour Hazwoper certification and Resource Conservation Recovery Act (RCRA) qualified
- Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV) Qualified/confined space qualified preferred
