Job Summary

FieldLink is seeking a Data Center Superintendent to lead structured cabling and low voltage projects at enterprise and hyperscale data centers across the United States. This is a national travel role requiring extensive travel to project sites. The Superintendent will oversee field operations, lead installation teams, ensure quality and safety compliance, and deliver projects on schedule. The ideal candidate has strong leadership experience in structured cabling and mission-critical data center environments.

Job Responsibilities




  • Lead daily field operations for structured cabling and low voltage projects in active data center environments.



  • Supervise teams of 10 or more technicians, foremen, and subcontractors.



  • Review project drawings, specifications, and installation plans to ensure work is completed accurately.



  • Oversee installation quality to ensure compliance with BICSI standards and industry best practices.



  • Track project milestones, monitor production, and ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.



  • Attend daily stretch and flex meetings, reinforce safety expectations, and communicate daily labor goals.



  • Conduct routine jobsite walks to monitor quality, safety, and production while identifying opportunities for improvement.



  • Correct unsafe work practices and installation issues while coaching field personnel on proper procedures.



  • Meet daily with Project Leads to review production, project constraints, safety concerns, and quality issues.



  • Provide daily project updates to Project Managers and maintain accurate documentation within project management systems.



  • Review and approve employee time entries daily and verify accuracy against project records.



  • Ensure daily reports are completed accurately and submitted on schedule.



  • Complete weekly project pre-planning and adjust schedules as needed based on customer requirements and project demands.



  • Mentor Project Leads and field personnel while promoting technical development and operational excellence.



  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project managers, general contractors, and customer representatives.



  • Communicate project progress, risks, schedule changes, and solutions professionally.



  • Conduct jobsite safety audits and toolbox talks while ensuring compliance with OSHA and site-specific safety requirements.



  • Maintain organized, clean, and professional work areas within active data center environments.




Job Requirements




  • Minimum of 7 years of structured cabling or low voltage installation experience.



  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or field leadership experience.



  • Experience leading structured cabling projects within enterprise or hyperscale data center environments.



  • High School Diploma or GED.



  • Strong understanding of BICSI standards and data center construction practices.



  • Experience with cable tray systems, ladder racks, fiber routing, MDF/IDF build-outs, and structured cabling infrastructure.



  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and produce accurate as-built documentation.



  • Strong experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Power BI, or similar project management software.



  • Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.



  • OSHA 10 certification preferred.



  • Lift, Fall Protection, and Confined Space certifications are preferred.



  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.



  • Ability to work on ladders, personnel lifts, and remain on foot for extended periods.



  • Ability to work safely in active mission-critical data center environments.

Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.)




  • This position requires extensive nationwide travel to customer project sites.



  • Travel is expected to be 100% initially, reducing to approximately 75%, and potentially 50% based on business needs and demonstrated performance.



  • Typical schedule begins at 7:00 AM, averaging 50-60 hours per week depending on project demands.



  • Project assignments typically require 4-6 weeks onsite before rotating to the next location.



  • A $50 daily per diem is provided while traveling.



  • Shared company-provided lodging is available during travel assignments, with individual bedrooms in shared accommodations.
