Job Title: Technical Process Engineer

Location(s): Rockford, TN

Position Summary
We are seeking a temporary entry-level Process Engineer to work in day-to-day manufacturing scenario of scintillator materials for PET molecular imaging applications. The candidate will work in a production-oriented environment focused on process execution, equipment operation, documentation, and scale-up from development into large-volume manufacturing.

This role requires daily operation of production and laboratory equipment, support of controlled material-processing steps, and close collaboration with the R&D team to ensure process stability, repeatability, and day-to-day production of material precursors. The candidate currently has more than six months of hands-on training in several critical processing steps and has demonstrated reliability, strong work ethic, and the ability to contribute effectively as a temporary worker in a technical manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and execute day-to-day manufacturing process steps for scintillator material production, including preparation of liquid precursors, nanomaterial synthesis, powder processing, calcination, milling, and sieving.
  • Operate production equipment on a daily basis in support of pilot and large-volume manufacturing, including forming, precursor material preparation and synthesis.
  • Support process control, sample tracking, chemical inventory, batch documentation, data entry, and processing of experimental and production data.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D, engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to transfer process knowledge, troubleshoot production issues, improve workflow, and expand manufacturing capabilities.
  • Follow EHS requirements for chemical handling, powder processing, thermal equipment, laboratory housekeeping, and safe production operations.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • Hands-on experience in a laboratory, pilot production, manufacturing, or technical process environment preferably.
  • Ability to operate equipment safely, follow detailed procedures, maintain process discipline, and document work accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail, data organization skills, reliability, and ability to work effectively in a team-based production environment.
Highly Desirable Skills
  • Experience with chemical precursor preparation, nanomaterial synthesis, powder processing, thermal treatment, or advanced materials manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with material characterization and process-support equipment such as ICP-MS, DSC-TGA, particle size analysis, BET testing, porosity measurements, light output, decay time, or timing performance testing.
  • Prior hands-on training in scintillator material production, equipment operation, or related advanced materials processing.
Conversion to Full Employment
  • This position supports a potential conversion from temporary worker to full-time employee within a one-year time frame.
  • Conversion would be based on performance, business needs, ability to manage daily manufacturing responsibilities, safe equipment operation, and continued contribution to production readiness and commercialization.
