Overview

The Tufts Office of Sustainability (OOS) works to advance sustainability across Tufts University by supporting effective resource use, fostering student engagement, and collaborating with faculty, staff, and operational partners. The office connects institutional problem-solving with education and research, helping build a culture of sustainability and collective problem-solving across the university.

What You'll Do

This is a one-year limited term position.
The Sustainability Program Assistant is an entry-level professional role that supports OOS in three main areas: 1. Student Sustainability Programs; 2. Resource-Use and Sustainability Data Management; 3. Communications Support. This position offers hands-on experience in higher education sustainability, program facilitation, data handling, community engagement, and communications.
  • Support Sustainable Spring, Sustainable CORE Fellows, and Sustainable Solutions Fellows programs; meetings, logistics, materials, tracking and evaluation.
  • Collect and maintain sustainability data; support dashboards, STARS reporting, Carnegie classifications, greenhouse gas inventories, and data requests.
  • Develop communications content including social media, newsletters, website updates, graphics, signage, and outreach materials.
  • Support special projects and other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:
Knowledge and experience typically acquired by:
  • High School equivalent experience in sustainability, environmental studies, communications, social science, data management, or related field.
  • 1-2 years work experience
  • Strong communication, organization, collaboration, and computer skills (MS Office).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with group facilitation, data visualization, Canva or Adobe Creative Suite, website maintenance, higher education sustainability programs, and sustainability ranking and rating systems.

Pay Range

Minimum $25.20, Midpoint $30.10, Maximum $34.90

Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
