More than a job: a mission As a Tooling and Metrology Engineer in Hornell, NY, you will play a vital role in ensuring the precision and reliability of the tools and fixtures that shape our vehicles. Your work will directly support the safe, efficient, and high-quality production of rail solutions that connect communities and keep cities moving. Your role, Your impact Support the design, validation, and commissioning of welding jigs, fixtures, and assembly tooling for manufacturing projects. Perform dimensional inspections using advanced metrology equipment to ensure tooling and assemblies meet strict requirements. Collaborate with production, quality, and industrial teams to resolve tooling-related issues impacting safety, quality, or delivery. Drive continuous improvement initiatives in tooling design, dimensional management, and process stability. Contribute to the digitalization and standardization of dimensional control activities across automated welding lines. You'll work with sharp, committed teams across engineering, operations, and design - solving complex challenges that shape the future of mobility. As a Tooling and Metrology Engineer, you will be at the forefront of ensuring manufacturing excellence and product quality. What you bring Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechatronics Engineering, or a related technical field. 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, tooling engineering, dimensional control, or industrialization. Hands-on experience with welding fixtures, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and metrology equipment such as Laser Trackers and CMMs. Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a customer-focused and continuous improvement mindset. Proficiency in CAD and metrology software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, PolyWorks) and a willingness to work on the shop floor. How success is measured Achievement of dimensional and functional requirements for tooling and assemblies. Timely resolution of tooling-related issues impacting production safety, quality, or delivery. Implementation of continuous improvement actions that enhance process stability and product quality.
