If you want to make a difference, we want to hear from you. Job Summary The Medical Laboratory Technician analyzes biological specimens using routine and complex instruments and manual methods. Applies quality control, maintenance, and calibration procedures per standard operating procedures to provide accurate, reliable, and timely information for preventing, diagnosing, or treating disease. Participates in teaching students and new employees. QUALIFICATIONS
Must be certified as a Medical Technologist by:
Responsibility Follows standard operating procedures for collecting, acceptance of appropriate samples, processing and analyzing biological specimens and other substances for routine and complex laboratory tests. Integrates clinical and laboratory data to make decisions regarding possible discrepancies. Verifies results in the laboratory information system. Monitors workload to ensure timely completion for high priority samples. Executes, verifies, and documents quality control procedures. Makes decisions concerning the quality control results and institutes proper procedures to maintain accuracy and precision of testing system. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and instruments, detects problems and performs corrective procedures. Participates in continuing education for growth and maintenance of professional competence. Teaches laboratory procedures to students and employees in training. Actively participates in developing and meeting continuous quality improvement standards for the department. Provides information to customers inquiring about specimen status, collection requirements, and test orders and results, and ensures the customer receives the information needed. Performs any other duties as assigned by supervisor, Technical Specialist, or Manager. Additional duties as assigned Core Competencies 1.
