Job Description

The starting rate of pay for this position is expected to be $43.00; however, starting pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience between $40.00 and $49.00.

SHIFT: Monday - Friday 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

LOCATION: Sterling MA (not eligible for relocation or employment-based visa sponsorship)

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for advanced electrical troubleshooting, controls systems support, equipment installation, PLC diagnosis, and maintaining electrical reliability across production and facility systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, and machine guarding requirements.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S and housekeeping standards

  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain accurate documentation including schematics, panel drawings, and maintenance records.

  • Participate in safety meetings, quality and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Perform other job and project related duties as assigned.

Industrial Electrical Maintenance:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems up to facility voltage standards.

  • Diagnose and repair electrical failures involving motors, drives, transformers, relays, contactors, and control panels.

  • Install, modify, and maintain electrical equipment in accordance with NEC requirements and company standards.

  • Perform electrical preventive maintenance including thermal inspections and control panel audits.

Control and Automation:

  • Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and production systems.

  • Diagnose communication failures involving, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, servos, and automation devices.

  • Support machine upgrades, automation projects, and control system improvements.

  • Assist engineering with equipment installations.

Electrical and Controls Support:

  • Troubleshoot electrical systems including motors, drives, sensors, relays, contactors, and control circuits.

  • Assist with troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment and automated production systems.

  • Replace and install electrical components in accordance with applicable codes and company standards.

Manufacturing Support:

  • Troubleshoot electrical controls issues on:

    • Extruders

    • Gravimetric blending systems

    • Winders

    • Oscillators

    • Air rings

    • Corona treaters

    • Material conveying systems

    • Chillers and process cooling equipment

  • Analyze recurring electrical issues and implement corrective actions.

Leadership and Technical Support:

  • Serve as technical resource for Maintenance Technicians I and II.

  • Lead complex troubleshooting efforts and root cause investigations.

  • Recommend equipment improvements to increase reliability and reduce downtime.

  • Support development of maintenance procedures and electrical standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum 5-8 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience.

  • Associate degree in Electrical Technology, Mechatronic, Industrial Maintenance, or related field (preferred).

  • Journeyman Electrician certification or ability to complete Certified Electrical Worker (CEW) certificate.

  • Experience in plastics, extrusion, packaging, or blown film manufacturing (preferred).

  • Experience with industrial automation and manufacturing equipment.

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.

  • Working knowledge of motors, drives, bearings, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, and production equipment.

  • Basic PLC troubleshooting skills (preferred).

  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and maintenance equipment.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to consistently stand, walk, squat/kneel, bend, reach, pull/push, climb, crawl, work at overhead, waist height, and below waist.

  • Able to work at heights and around operating machinery.

  • Able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Able to perform fine and gross motor skills.

  • Able to read, comprehend and communicate (written and verbal) in English.

  • Able to work overtime, weekends, and respond to emergency maintenance situations as required.
