This position is designated as a hybrid role based out of our headquarters near Portland, Oregon. The current expectation is for employees to work onsite four days per week, subject to change based on business needs. This in-office requirement may be adjusted at the discretion of the company.

Columbia Sportswear Company is seeking an exceptional Senior Director, North America Marketplace Operationsto lead and transform the operational capabilities that power our omni-channel business. This executive leader will be responsible for developing and executing a global marketplace operations strategy that delivers best-in-class experiences for consumers, customers, and partners across our portfolio of brands.

This role sits at the intersection of retail, digital commerce, wholesale customer and consumer experience, supply chain, and technology, ensuring seamless execution across company-owned stores, eCommerce platforms, wholesale accounts, and marketplace channels. The Sr. Director will lead teams responsible for DTC Operations, Account Operations, and Customer Engagement, while partnering closely with leaders across Commercial, Supply Chain, Retail, Digital Commerce, Finance, and Technology.

Based at our global headquarters in Portland, Oregon, this leader will establish the vision, standards, operating model, and performance expectations that drive operational excellence and support Columbia Sportswear Company's ambitious growth plans. The successful candidate will combine strategic thinking with operational rigor, leveraging innovative technologies, advanced analytics, and evolving fulfillment capabilities to create scalable solutions that enhance both business performance and customer experience.

The ideal candidate is a strategic and transformational operations leader with deep expertise across retail, digital commerce, supply chain, and customer experience. You understand how to connect commercial ambition with operational execution and have a proven track record of leading large-scale organizations through growth, complexity, and change.

Key Responsibilities Lead North America Marketplace Operations Strategy
  • Develop and execute a world-class marketplace operations strategy aligned with Columbia Sportswear Company's growth objectives and long-term vision.
  • Establish operational standards, governance, processes, and performance expectations that drive consistency, scalability, and excellence across regions.
  • Translate commercial priorities into operational capabilities that enable profitable growth across wholesale, retail, and digital commerce channels.
  • Develop annual operating plans, strategic priorities, and budgets to support business objectives.
Drive Omni-Channel Excellence
  • Lead operational execution across all direct-to-consumer channels, including full-price stores, outlet locations, eCommerce sites, and emerging digital marketplaces.
  • Ensure a seamless end-to-end customer experience through effective inventory deployment, fulfillment execution, customer service, and returns management.
  • Optimize omni-channel capabilities such as ship-from-store, buy online/pick up in store, inventory visibility, order orchestration, and future fulfillment solutions.
  • Lead planning and fulfillment activities throughout the year, including peak-season readiness, product launches, promotional events, and high-volume selling periods.
Deliver Operational and Financial Performance
  • Own operational and financial results for marketplace operations and delivering against targets established with executive leadership.
  • Partner with Commercial and Supply Chain leaders to establish KPIs and drive performance management across service, cost, inventory, and productivity metrics.
  • Maximize inventory productivity across channels by ensuring the highest and best use of inventory to support growth, consumer satisfaction, and working capital objectives.
  • Lead regular business reviews with internal stakeholders, customers, and executive leadership teams.
Shape the Future of Customer and Fulfillment Operations
  • Define and implement future-state strategies for customer engagement, reverse logistics, and returns management.
  • Identify and implement innovative fulfillment practices, automation opportunities, and emerging operating models that improve efficiency and service.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that simplify processes, remove friction, and enhance customer and employee experiences.
  • Benchmark industry-leading practices and bring forward new ideas that strengthen Columbia's competitive position.
Partner with Technology to Accelerate Transformation
  • Collaborate closely with Technology leadership to define and execute the marketplace operations technology roadmap.
  • Champion the modernization and continuous improvement of systems supporting order management, inventory visibility, retail operations, customer engagement, distribution, and fulfillment.
  • Leverage data, analytics, artificial intelligence, and automation to improve operational decision-making, agility, and customer outcomes.
  • Serve as a key executive sponsor for cross-functional transformation initiatives that enhance scalability, operational resilience, and omni-channel capabilities.
  • Ensure technology investment priorities align with business objectives and create measurable value for consumers, customers, and the company.
Build High-Performing Teams
  • Lead, develop, and inspire teams across DTC Operations, Account Operations, and Customer Engagement.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, continuous improvement, and customer obsession.
  • Build organizational capabilities and succession plans that support the future needs of a growing global business.
  • Act as a visible and influential leader who develops talent and drives engagement across the organization.
Leadership & Functional Expertise
  • Deep knowledge of omni-channel retail, marketplace operations, customer fulfillment, inventory management, and supply chain operations.
  • Demonstrated success building and developing high-performing teams and leaders.
  • Strong strategic mindset with the ability to translate vision into executable plans and measurable business outcomes.
  • Exceptional collaboration and influencing skills with a demonstrated ability to build partnerships across diverse functions and leadership levels.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, productivity management, and business case development.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Outstanding executive communication skills with the ability to effectively present recommendations, influence decisions, and align stakeholders.
Technology & Innovation
  • Experience leading business-enabled technology transformation initiatives within retail, eCommerce, or supply chain environments.
  • Strong understanding of modern operational technology ecosystems, including order management, warehouse management, transportation management, retail technologies, customer engagement platforms, and digital commerce solutions.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and passion for leveraging emerging technologies, automation, artificial intelligence, and advanced analytics to unlock business value and improve customer experiences.
YOU HAVE
  • 15+ years of leadership experience preferred in retail operations, supply chain, distribution, fulfillment, customer experience, or related operational functions
  • 10+ years leading complex global operations within a consumer products, retail, wholesale, or omni-channel environment.
  • Significant experience supporting wholesale channels, brick-and-mortar retail operations, and digital commerce.
  • Proven success managing large-scale operational organizations and delivering measurable business and financial results.
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide transformation initiatives and driving operational excellence at scale.
