Position Summary The Field Service Technician is responsible for supporting RK Mission Critical's modular products after delivery to customer sites nationwide. This hands-on role requires a self-directed problem solver with strong electrical and mechanical skills, a customer-focused mindset, and the flexibility to travel frequently on short notice. Technicians are expected to troubleshoot complex issues in the field, communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and third-party inspectors, and execute repairs efficiently with limited oversight. Success in this role requires adaptability, technical acumen, and a strong sense of ownership and accountability for product performance and customer satisfaction. Role Responsibilities Work safely and in compliance with OSHA standards; support site safety and coordination with GCs and subcontractors Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and building systems based on work instructions, assembly drawings, and schematics Perform component replacements, system testing, and on-site repairs Represent the scope of RKMC's service clearly and execute to the pre-deployment scope of work to ensure customer alignment Communicate respectfully and professionally with customers; escalate concerns internally before providing resolutions Document all field activity and work completed including service reports, photos, time logs, and customer interactions Maintain tools, equipment, and job site cleanliness to RKMC standards and site requirements Participate in product knowledge training, customer training, and installation oversight support When not traveling, support the RKMC Manufacturing team with the installation, integration, and testing of electrical and mechanical equipment Qualifications High school diploma or GED 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing, construction, field service, electrical installation, or systems troubleshooting Proficiency in electrical/mechanical systems, field diagnostics, and workmanship standards Ability to work independently and resolve issues with limited supervision Ability to create accurate field reports, task summaries, and photo documentation Strong interpersonal and customer service skills Valid driver's license Willingness and availability to travel frequently (up to 75%) with short notice Preferred: Technical certification or licensed in the electrical or mechanical trades Experience working with modular, prefabricated, or containerized systems Familiarity with low-voltage power distribution, controls/communications, HVAC systems, or backup power systems General knowledge or experience with the practical application and interpretation of NFPA 70/NEC or IMC OSHA 10/30 Minimum Physical Requirements and Accountability Work in indoor, outdoor, dusty, noisy, or hazardous conditions Work in high places, tight or confined spaces, and various weather environments Climb, balance, squat, kneel, and crouch as necessary Lift, carry, and move items up to 50lbs occasionally What Sets RK Industries Apart Safety: Our unmatched culture of safety is our foremost core value, guiding everything we do each day:Health, Safety, & Environmental Awards: Whether in Construction, Manufacturing, Fabrication, or Service, RK Industries is highly recognized and accredited throughout the industry:Accreditations & Recognition Benefits: RK Industries offers competitive benefits to support your growth and well-being:Benefits & Rewards Philanthropy: RK Industries not only builds our community through our projects, but also invests in it by supporting local services for over a decade through the RK Foundation:RK Foundation Development: Through RK University, we provide hands-on training and development opportunities that empower employees to advance their careers and grow within the company, to include leadership and technical learning opportunities, we well as our accredited apprentice program:RK University&RK Apprenticeship Program Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
