And we do all of this in a supportive and collaborative environment where we work alongside brilliant colleagues, touch lives around the world, see the difference our hard work makes, and continue on our own paths of lifelong learning.

How can you make an impact?

As a Lead Data Scientist, you will join a team of data scientists, AI researchers, psychometricians, and software developers who provide technical and scientific leadership for some of our most important strategic efforts companywide. You will independently apply advanced DS/AI techniques to solve complex problems that drive business outcomes for our School (PreK-12) business unit, bringing together deep expertise in educational measurement and a thorough understanding of what it takes to operationalize and sustain quantitative models in production. You will develop innovative methodologies and scalable solutions, foster collaboration across teams, facilitate alignment with organizational strategic goals, and provide technical mentorship to enhance team capabilities. You will collaborate closely with colleagues across functions like Product, Engineering, Learning Design, and User Experience to help McGraw Hill create and deliver world-class educational experiences.

This is a remote position open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States.

What You Bring:

  • 4-7 years of professional experience with a demonstrated ability to deliver impactful DS/AI projects.

  • Ability to think through and communicate about system design, scaling, and pipeline architecture to ensure models are implemented faithfully and maintained reliably in production systems, and to collaborate effectively with engineering partners
  • Strong Python skills with experience writing production-quality, scalable code
  • Strong technical communication and collaboration skills, particularly with non-technical stakeholders

Preferred:

  • Commitment to the field of education and the mission of improving K-12 student outcomes
  • Experience working at an assessment company, adaptive learning platform, or edtech company that ships proficiency-based or adaptive/personalization products
