Detailed Description
- Supervise the daily activities of Quality Control Inspectors, including work assignments, prioritization, and overall team direction.
- Perform and support receiving, first article, in-process, non-destructive testing (NDT), and final inspections as needed.
- Provide immediate support to resolve issues affecting inspection processes and production schedules.
- Ensure inspection activities are completed accurately and in accordance with established quality standards and procedures.
- Train and develop inspectors on work instructions, inspection methods, measurement techniques, and quality processes.
- Communicate staffing, equipment, and operational needs to the Quality Manager.
- Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Material Review Board (MRB), and Quality teams to resolve nonconforming material in a timely manner.
- Assist the Quality Manager with developing and implementing new inspection processes and work instructions.
- Monitor inspection processes and recommend continuous improvement opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and procedural requirements.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and quality throughout the inspection organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Strong knowledge of quality control processes and manufacturing inspection practices.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, and technical documentation.
- Proficient in the use of precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Experience documenting and processing nonconforming materials.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while meeting production deadlines.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Ability to learn additional web-based systems used for quality documentation and recordkeeping.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; or a minimum of five (5) years of relevant quality inspection or manufacturing experience.
- Experience supervising or leading quality inspection personnel preferred.
- Experience in receiving, in-process, final inspection, and NDT inspection activities.
- Ability to work effectively in both office and manufacturing environments.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as business needs require.
Preferred Certifications
- Quality-related certifications (ASQ or equivalent) preferred.
- Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) certifications preferred.
- Additional quality inspection certifications are a plus.
Additional Details This position is a working supervisor role that requires regular movement between office and manufacturing environments to support inspection activities. The incumbent must be able to walk frequently throughout multiple production facilities, perform hands-on inspection work when needed, and work in varying manufacturing conditions. Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and extended hours is required to support production schedules and business needs.
