Senior Human Resources Generalist

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Human Resources Generalist to join our HR team. This role is a key partner to leadership and employees, playing a critical role in ensuring a positive employee experience while supporting business objectives through effective HR partnership, process execution, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include:
Employee Relations
  • Lead and conduct employee relations investigations from intake through resolution
  • Partner with leaders to address complex workplace issues and ensure fair, consistent outcomes
  • Recommend and document appropriate corrective actions
  • Use HR data, trends, and insights to guide decisions and recommendations
Manager Coaching & Development
  • Coach managers on performance management, conflict resolution, and employee engagement
  • Provide guidance on handling sensitive employee issues and applying company policies
  • Support development of leadership capabilities through training and ongoing coaching
HR Programs & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g., FMLA, ADA, EEO)
  • Support audits and maintain accurate HR documentation and reporting (EEO-1, OSHA, etc.)
  • Help maintain and improve HR policies and procedures
HRIS & Process Improvement
  • Maintain accurate employee data and reporting within the HRIS
  • Analyze HR data and generate insights to support business decisions
  • Partner with HR Systems to enhance HRIS functionality and processes
Training & Team Development
  • Identify training needs and deliver programs focused on employee relations, compliance, and leadership skills
  • Develop practical tools and resources for managers
  • Mentor junior HR team members and contribute to overall team capability
Additional Responsibilities
  • Oversee fiscal year-end HR processes, including personnel changes and system updates
  • Support HR projects and process improvement initiatives
  • Support job evaluation and career progression frameworks

Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience (or a minimum of 5 years of experience as an HR Generalist at Hamamatsu), with strong expertise in employee relations and investigations
  • Proven ability to independently conduct investigations and advise on complex employee matters
  • Strong experience coaching managers and influencing decision-making
  • Solid understanding of employment laws and HR best practices
  • Experience working with HRIS systems and using data to drive decisions
  • Excellent communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications
  • 8-10+ years of HR experience in a generalist or HRBP role
  • Experience with job evaluation, job architecture, and compensation practices
  • HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or HRCI)
  • Experience supporting HR systems or process improvements

Pay Range
The target base salary for this role at commencement of employment is expected to be between $90,000 - $120,000 annually. Final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and qualifications.
