Position Summary

Job Summary:

The Mold Shift Lead provides hands-on technical support, training, performance feedback, and work directions for team members within department. This role coordinates operators and technicians, supports setup and troubleshooting, and drives continuous improvement to meet quality and production targets.

Responsibilities

Job Duties:

  • Lead, coach, and support mold team during daily operations.
  • Assign work, balance workloads, and ensure staffing aligns with production priorities.
  • Provide real-time guidance to ensure work is performed correctly and efficiently.
  • Monitor machine performance and respond to downtime.
  • Conduct shift start-up meetings and communicate daily goals, safety topics, and quality priorities.
  • Escalate staffing, performance, or operational issues to the Supervisor as needed.
  • Track and communicate progress toward daily/weekly production plans.
  • Monitor and escalate layered audits hourly.
  • Verify First Article Inspection process and approvals are completed.
  • Support troubleshooting for defects and implement corrective actions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives (5S, lean, standard work, visual management).
  • Monitor and reinforce safe work practices, proper PPE usage, and ergonomics.
  • Support incident reporting, near-miss reporting, and corrective actions.
  • Serves as the Natural Team HPT leader and coordinates and drives team meetings, projects, and TIB.
  • Attend meetings such as RTB, Lead meeting and other project meetings.
  • Works closely with Supervisors and other resources to ensure training matrix is regularly updated and gaps in the matrix are closed within a timely manner.
  • Assist with ATR resolution and gage management.
  • Participate in Cost Reduction, Kaizen events, and Lean Transformation efforts for your production area.
  • Verify competency and ensure training records are completed per requirements.
  • Support onboarding of new hires and cross-training across stations.
  • Train, coach, and mentor operators on standard work, quality checks, and safe work practices.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience.

Key Competencies:

  • Strong floor leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • High attention to detail; commitment to quality and compliance.
  • Ability to prioritize and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a continuous improvement orientation.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to model discipline and professionalism.
  • MS Office experience.
  • Solid knowledge of the equipment, tools, processes and operations of the assigned department.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, drawings, or specifications.
  • Ability to provide technical supervision within a high-performance team culture.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts & processes.
  • Working knowledge of the Parker quality system and tools.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Must be able to interpret programs required for mold department machines.
