Job Description

The Support Coordinator for the UMSL Teach in Residency (TIR) Alternative Certification Pathway serves as the primary point of contact for current and prospective participants throughout the certification process. This position provides comprehensive guidance, advising, and administrative support to ensure participants successfully navigate program requirements, maintain certification compliance, and progress toward teacher certification. The Support Coordinator works closely with university personnel, school district partners, and state certification agencies to support participant success and program effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

Participant Recruitment and Communication

  • Effectively communicate with prospective and current participants regarding program requirements, eligibility, certification pathways, and program opportunities.
  • Respond to participant inquiries in a timely and professional manner, providing accurate information and guidance.
  • Conduct outreach activities to support recruitment and retention efforts for the alternative certification pathway.

Certification and Licensing Support

  • Support participants in completing all required applications, documentation, and processes necessary to obtain and maintain appropriate temporary and provisional teaching licenses.
  • Manage all aspects of participant certification, including reviewing documentation, monitoring deadlines, and coordinating with relevant certification agencies.
  • Serve as a liaison between participants, university offices, school districts, and state certification entities to facilitate certification processes.

Participant Advising and Support

  • Provide individualized counseling, coaching, and guidance throughout all phases of the residency and certification program.
  • Assist participants in identifying and addressing barriers that may impact successful program completion.
  • Connect participants with university and community resources as needed to support academic and professional success.

Progress Monitoring and Compliance

  • Develop, maintain, and utilize tracking systems to monitor participant progress from recruitment through program completion and certification.
  • Monitor participant compliance with university, district, and state requirements necessary to maintain provisional certification status.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to participant enrollment, certification, and program milestones.
  • Proactively communicate with participants regarding upcoming deadlines, required actions, and compliance concerns.

Program Coordination and Reporting

  • Collaborate with university faculty, district partners, and program leadership to ensure seamless participant support.
  • Generate reports and provide updates regarding participant status, certification progress, and program outcomes.
  • Recommend process improvements that enhance participant experience and program efficiency.
  • Assist with special projects, events, and initiatives that support the goals of the Teach in Residency program.

Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. The University will not sponsor applicants for this position for employment visas.

Shift

40 hours weekly

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in educator preparation, teacher certification, higher education, or K-12 education.

Knowledge of Missouri educator certification requirements and processes.

Experience advising, mentoring, or supporting adult learners.

Familiarity with data tracking, compliance monitoring, and program coordination.

Anticipated Hiring Range

$19.25 - $27.40
