Position Summary This position is a temporary role that supports the Senior Payroll Administrator. It is part of a two-person team responsible for payroll processing and payroll accounting for U.S. employees and international employees engaged through an Employer of Record (EOR). The Payroll Accounting Specialist will also work closely with the Finance and Human Resources teams to perform a full range of payroll and accounting duties as outlined below. The ideal candidate will have a balanced background in payroll processing and payroll accounting, including reconciliations and payroll-related journal entries. This position has the potential to be converted to full-time.
Position Responsibilities
Process full-cycle semi-monthly and biweekly U.S. payrolls for multiple entities using ADP Workforce Now (about 100 or less total employees).
- Support the Senior Payroll Administrator with monthly international payroll processing, reviewing payroll calculations and invoices from Employer of Record (EOR) and payroll providers (20+ employees). Update payment tracker and prepare wire payments for release by the Controller.
- Prepare journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and other reconciliations related to U.S. and international payrolls.
- Review employee and employer benefit contributions and deductions to ensure accuracy before approval and submission.
- Assists with payroll registration and other compliance matters as required for local, state, and federal agencies.
- Supports preparation of documentation for external audit, retirement plan audit and workman's compensation audit, and other audits as required.
- Provides support to employees on payroll questions by researching and interpreting payroll data.
- Assists in maintaining current payroll procedures and documentation to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Assist with ad hoc payroll or finance tasks or projects assigned by Senior Payroll Administrator.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; or equivalent years of experience.
- 2 -5 years of relevant work experience.
- Working knowledge of payroll and benefit accounting.
- Comprehensive understanding of state and federal employment laws pertinent to key areas of responsibility.
- Proficiency in ADP (Workforce Now and Comprehensive Services) or similar payroll software platforms.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point).
- Analytical skills: High attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent customer service, oral and written communications skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and direction from others.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and data integrity.
- Proficiency in NetSuite a plus.

Compensation and Benefits (U.S.)
- Salary Range: $65K to $80K
- The above salary range serves as a general guideline. Accion considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, training, skills, location, current market conditions as well as internal pay alignment.

Compensation and Benefits (Global Remote)
- Salary Range and Benefits are for candidates based in DC metropolitan area. Outside of this area, we may differentiate salaries and benefits based on location.
