Location Controller

Position Summary:

  • Leading the Finance team at the SSO Miami site within Services & Support Operations (SSO). Supporting the SSO Segmental Controller in achieving the Annual Operating Plan.
  • Responsible for the safeguarding and ethical accounting of all location's assets in conformance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Provide leadership and guidance to manage the business using the Win Strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate / division policies as well as Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARs) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS). This role serves as the Compliance Officer of the site.
  • Functions include: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, General Ledger, Budgeting, Financial Planning & Analysis, Sarbanes Oxley, financial reporting both external and internal, and performance measurements.

Scope/ Supervision and Interaction:

The role leads an overall team of seven, two of which are direct reports. This position requires frequent interface with managers and supervisors at all levels of the organization from group, divisions and local staff functions on topics of accounting, internal control issues and business-related topics.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare statements of monthly financial data including income statement and balance sheet.
  • Perform analysis of financial results as compared to objectives.
  • Prepare weekly financial forecasts providing analysis of significant changes in assumptions and highlighting risks and opportunities by product group.
  • Direct the financial performance measurements within the location, while ensuring financial performance reporting is accurate and timely meeting the constant changing need of the division and group.
  • Accountable to ensure that proper procedures, policies and controls are in place to maintain adequate internal controls of the business. Responsible for ensuring annual SOX self-testing is completed.
  • Prepare and monitor pricing rates in accordance with government regulations and disclosed practices.
  • Respond to special financial requests and analysis and communicate potential problem areas. Conduct financial reviews/analysis as requested.
  • Lead the internal and external audit interactions for the site.
  • Oversee the proper staffing of all accounting positions. Ensures technically qualified personnel are placed in all positions and has training and development programs available for the location accounting organization. At least annually, reviews succession plans.
  • Support the annual division planning process with emphasis on installing a proactive reporting system needed to support the management decision-making process.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • MBA degree or professional designation desired.
  • 7 to 10 years of progressive experience in the accounting area.
  • Knowledgeable of Federal Acquisition Regulations and Cost Accounting Standards
