About the Role
The Senior Manager, Architecture Lead - Payment Networks is a hands-on technical architect responsible for defining, governing, and driving architecture across multiple payment network solutions within the portfolio. The role establishes architecture governance, standards, and consistency while directly contributing to the design and build of large scale, distributed payment processing systems.

Reporting to the VP, Portfolio Engineering, this role combines deep technical expertise with portfolio level architectural leadership, ensuring solutions are designed for scalability, resiliency, security, and compliance. The Architect Lead will manage and mentor Solution Architects, and guide teams across multi cloud environments (Azure and AWS), modern APIs, data platforms, and AI enabled systems.

What You Will Be Doing

Architecture Governance & Portfolio Leadership

  • Establish and lead architecture governance across multiple Payment Network solutions
  • Define architectural standards, patterns, and guardrails to ensure consistency, scalability, and reuse
  • Drive cross solution alignment while enabling autonomy and speed for delivery teams

Hands On Architecture & Solution Design

  • Design and review end to end architecture for payment processing, checkout, APIs, and distributed systems
  • Act as a hands on architect for complex designs, proofs of concept, and critical initiatives
  • Provide technical direction across Azure and AWS cloud platforms

Payments & Platform Engineering

  • Architect high availability, low latency payment processing systems
  • Ensure architectures meet PCI, security, risk, and regulatory requirements
  • Guide cloud modernization, including legacy decomposition and migration

Data & AI Enablement

  • Define architectural approaches for data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake) and AI/ML integration
  • Ensure data and AI capabilities are designed for scale, security, and operational maturity

People Leadership

  • Lead and mentor a team of Solution Architects, setting clear technical expectations
  • Build a strong architecture community focused on pragmatism, quality, and execution

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 8-12 years of experience designing distributed systems, preferably in payments or financial services
  • Strong hands on experience with:
  • Azure and AWS cloud architectures
  • Java based, API driven systems
  • Payment processing and checkout platforms
  • Cloud migrations and modernization
  • Data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake)
  • Deep understanding of scalability, resiliency, fault tolerance, and performance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with payment networks, card processing, or value added payment services
  • Exposure to AI/ML integrations in production systems
  • Experience operating architecture governance in large, regulated enterprises
