Pay rate: $18.72 - $19.28 an hour, depending on experience and qualifications

Position Summary

The Clinical Immunology Laboratory in the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science invites applications for a part-time Research Technician. This is a part time position scheduled to work approximately 22.5 hours per week.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs various research laboratory tests and tasks under the direction of senior laboratory personnel for the study of reproduction, immunology and cancer biology. These include cell culture, laboratory animals care and common laboratory techniques such as PCR, western blots, flow cytometry, and EIA.
  • Determines the acceptability of clinical specimens (body fluids, tissue biopsies) received by the laboratory for research, and clinical testing per CLIA requirements.
  • Follows the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting and maintaining records.
  • Performs quality control and other quality assurance activities to verify performance of research and clinical assays.
  • Maintains a safe, clean and secure working environment by complying with procedures, CLIA, HIPAA, and OSHA regulations.
  • Reports accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
  • Maintains laboratory supplies by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Contributes to research and development of new laboratory techniques followed by establishment of SOP under supervision of senior laboratory personnel.
  • Participates in research presentations and drafting of scientific manuscripts.

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical or biological science or medical lab Technology.
  • Must receive satisfactory results from a background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Laboratory research experience.
  • Clinical laboratory experience preferred.
