The Aviation Department which operates the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, and the North Perry Airport is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Airport Operations Agents - Airport Operations Control Center Agent (AOCC). The successful candidate will be located in the Airport Operations Control Center - Airport Operations Control Center Agent (AOCC), primarily responding to life-safety dispatches from inbound communication systems. Control Center Agents respond to aircraft alerts, fire alarms, facility evacuations, roadway accidents, traffic control issues, and door and gate access control alarms. This is a great opportunity in a fast-paced environment for an individual with clear communication skills who's able to multitask and prioritize. The AOCC is staffed 24/7, therefore, duties include working rotating shifts and assignments, including holidays, nights, and weekends. Work requires communication with airport users, tenants, federal, state, local government, and other agencies.

General Description
Performs specialized, independent operations work involving a considerable amount of public contact in the dynamic environment of the County's Aviation Department.
Works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires two (2) years of college level course work from an accredited college or university in airport management, aeronautical science or closely related field. (One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.) Requires one (1) year experience in airport operations or closely related experience.
Special Certifications and Licenses
Must possess a valid Florida driver's license during employment and maintain authority to drive on County business.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge and Customs Seal.
Preferences
Associate Degree in Aviation Management or related field.
Two (2) years experience in communication systems including radio dispatching and scheduling.
Additional Information
All candidates must complete an extensive ten (10) year work history verification and criminal background check, including fingerprinting and all other information as required by the Federal Aviation Administration. Ability to maintain authorization to drive a County vehicle. Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Identification Display Area(SIDA) Badge. The Aviation Department operates under a Drug-Free Workplace Policy in compliance with the provisions of the Federal Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988.

Per the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 49, Part 1542, all airport employees must undergo a Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and a Security Threat Assessment (STA) to obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge, as required by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

SCOPE OF WORK

Duties and Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary. Provides airport tenants and users with operational conditions, information, directions and assistance through various communications and computer systems to ensure safe, secure and expeditious movement of the traveling public. Monitors airport operational conditions and status of automated systems, performing routine tests to ensure appropriate notifications and follow-up actions are taken. By way of telephone, radio and paging systems, coordinates, notifies and generally dispatches to appropriate staff regarding operations, maintenance, safety and security related issues. Coordinates usage of County owned gates and ticket counters using assigned computer software. Maintains surveillance to ensure security system is operational and monitors security system activities for discrepancies, and dispatches appropriate staff as required. Monitors automated equipment systems for fire, security and maintenance alarms, making appropriate notifications when necessary. Initiates and coordinates airport response and notification of essential local, state and federal agencies to respond to emergencies in support of the "Unified Incident Command" structure; assist with operation of the Emergency Operations Center as required. Collects, records and compiles information for statistical data on routine and emergency airport conditions relating to safety and security, as well as various operational activities; disseminates information on airport operational conditions, status of construction in progress, and other pertinent airport activities. Monitors Control Center equipment; reports equipment problems; records daily all significant events disseminated to and/or from the Control Center in computerized logs. Ability to drive on the movement and non-movement areas of the airfield. Operates and maintains (as operator) county-owned vehicles, including 4-wheel drive, in an airport environment including responding to emergency situations. Performs related work as assigned. All Aviation Operations Division employees must be able to perform rotational shift work and/or overtime (holidays, weekends and emergencies) in support of operational needs in a twenty-four (24) hour per day/seven (7) days per week operation and in accordance with a collective bargaining agreement.

Physical Demands
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
