Job Overview:

Under minimal supervision, an employee of this class performs administrative and consultative work of considerable difficulty and managerial work of considerable difficulty. An employee of this class engages and manages professional consultants in developing, interpreting, and implementing policies and guidelines for the administration of large complex educational programs with their activities and services. This class differs from that of Educ Consultant 3 in that incumbents of the latter plan and develop policies for the administration and operation of a large and complex education program and may report to an incumbent of this class.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts ongoing analysis on the effectiveness of operations in assigned areas and makes decisions on process improvements. Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and policies.
  • Plans and directs the development, interpretation, implementation, and enforcement of policies and procedures affecting the administration of large educational programs.
  • Develops and maintains contacts with internal/external partners to explain, promote, and resolve problems concerning the administration of educational programs and policies.
  • Oversees the technical assistance provided to local education agencies and other educational institutions ensuring compliance with educational policy and procedure. Supervises and participates in analyzing educational needs and development plans for administering specific statewide educational programs.
  • Manages, trains, supervises, and evaluates the performance of assigned subordinate professional consultants and clerical staff.
  • Assists in directing the preparation and maintenance of record and reports. Approves budget and program changes.

Minimum Qualifications:

Possession of a master's degree in education, education administration or other related field and substantial educational work experience (5 or more years) including 3 years of education administration or supervisory work.
