Summary of Position Functions

The Summer Construction Project Coordinator Intern participates in a structured, hands-on learning experience supporting active construction projects. Over the course of the internship, the intern will gain exposure to document control, contract administration, subcontractor coordination, construction accounting processes and project closeout procedures. This role is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the construction project lifecycle while contributing to real-time project needs.

Essential Position Functions

  • Assist with organizing and maintaining project documentation across multiple active projects
  • Support tracking of subcontracts, change orders, and purchase orders and the corresponding accounting entries
  • Observe and assist in project setup, coding, execution, and closeout activities
  • Review subcontractor documentation (e.g., Certificates of Insurance, contracts, compliance forms) for completeness
  • Assist with tracking document expirations and compliance requirements
  • Gain exposure to contract terms, risk management practices, and company standards
  • Assist with data entry and updates in project management systems (e.g., Project Sight, Viewpoint Vista)
  • Support communication and follow-up with subcontractors and vendors on documentation needs
  • Participate in team meetings and project discussions
  • Assist with organizing certified payroll documentation and compliance tracking
  • Support collection of closeout documents and final project records
  • Participate in structured training, mentorship, and shadowing opportunities
  • Gain exposure to cross-functional teams including Project Accountants and Project Managers
  • Complete assigned learning objectives and end-of-internship summary or presentation (if applicable)

Education and Qualifications

  • Currently obtaining a Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Veregy's services and processes is required which can be obtained through intellect, technical inclination, and dedication to gain such knowledge.
  • Knowledge (Intermediate to advanced) of various operating systems, software products (e.g. MS Office, etc.), is required.
  • Computer software proficiency including Microsoft Project, Viewpoint, RS Means, Trimble Estimating and / or other job-related hardware and software applications that may be required.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time / workload.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, business, professional, and technical documents.
  • Ability to effectively respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and staff.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to write presentations, articles, routine reports, proposals, and correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and tactfully negotiate priority with end users.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure and extra hours if needed.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Valid driver's license.
