Job Description

We are currently hiring a FT EHS&S Specialist at our Cincinnati, OH Brewery

At The Boston Beer Company, safety is a core value. The Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) Specialist supports and advances programs that protect our coworkers, visitors, and communities while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. This role partners closely with brewery leadership, supervisors, and coworkers to foster a strong safety culture and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.

The EHS&S Specialist will work collaboratively across the Cincinnati Brewery, engaging with internal teams and external partners-including regulatory agencies, consultants, and insurers-to support operational excellence and responsible corporate citizenship.

What You'll Brew:

  • Provide hands-on EHS&S support for the Cincinnati Brewery, spending the majority of time on the production floor working directly with coworkers
  • Serve as a key day-to-day safety partner for department managers by responding to safety concerns and supporting safe work practices
  • Support the execution of core EHS&S programs such as forklift safety, lockout/tagout, fall protection, chemical safety, ergonomics, and environmental compliance, with training provided as needed
  • Deliver and support EHS&S training, including portions of new-hire orientation and key EHS&S programs
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and observations; track findings and support corrective actions
  • Participate in audits, incident investigations, and follow-up on action items to reduce risk and prevent recurrence
  • Support and help facilitate site safety committees
  • Assist with EHS&S regulatory documentation, reporting, communications, and metrics
  • Support brewery sustainability efforts and site EHS&S initiatives as directed
  • Partner closely with the EHS&S Manager and cross-functional teams; escalate issues as appropriate
  • Provide on-site EHS&S support across operational shifts, with flexibility to support evenings or weekends as needed

What Ingredients You'll Bring:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment, with exposure to production processes and day-to-day safety practices
  • Prior involvement with workplace safety programs, safety committees, or safety training
  • Completion of EHS, safety, or related training (academic, certification-based, or employer-provided), or willingness to complete required training
  • Familiarity with regulated work environments and the ability to learn and apply EHS requirements
  • Experience participating in safety-related activities such as inspections, incident reporting, audits, or continuous improvement efforts
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage, coach, and train coworkers on the floor
  • Comfortable working collaboratively with peers and coworkers in a support and implementation role
  • Working proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint)
  • Comfortable using an iPad or tablet for inspections, checklists, training, and data entry
  • General technical aptitude and ability to learn new software and systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous EHS&S experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, or regulatory agency
  • Environmental, Health and Safety Certification(s) from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals, National Safety Council, American Society of Safety Professionals or similar organizations.
  • Relevant safety training such as OSHA HAZWOPER 40, OSHA 40-Hour Certification or similar training programs.

Physical Requirements

  • May be required to periodically lift and/or move objects up to 50lbs
  • Ability to sit in front of a computer, tablet, etc. for an extended period of time
  • Bending, twisting and reaching
  • Willingness to wear PPE

Level: 8IC
At The Boston Beer Company, and in accordance with pay transparency laws, we are open about our salary ranges. For this role, the posted range reflects the earning potential for the position and spans from $44,000 to $87,000. Starting pay is determined by factors such as relevant experience, skills, and geographic location and typically falls below the top of the range to allow for growth over time.

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on company and individual performance.
