The Department of Marine and Coastal Sciences at Rutgers University is seeking a temporary Marine Science Research Scientist to support externally funded research on ocean-glacier interactions from July 1, 2026 through August 31, 2026. This full-time (37.5 hours/week) appointment involves conducting independent research using numerical ocean modeling (
ROMS) and observational datasets to investigate exchange flow dynamics, mixing, and stratification processes in glacial fjords.
The position also includes analysis of remotely operated vehicle (
ROV) data collected from
KAS Glacier in West Greenland to examine subglacial discharge plumes and sediment interactions. The individual will synthesize findings, prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication, and contribute to deliverables under sponsored research awards. |

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- PhD in Oceanography, Marine Science, or a closely related field
- Demonstrated experience in numerical ocean modeling (e.g., ROMS)
- Strong background in oceanographic data analysis
- Ability to conduct independent research and produce publishable results
